Playhouse Square Successfully Advances The Legacy Campaign

Playhouse Square shines brightly today thanks to the dedication and foresight of individuals who saw the theaters as both a symbol of Cleveland's past and an inspiration for the future. To honor their efforts and further its not-for-profit mission, in 2014 Playhouse Square began to pursue its largest philanthropic effort, the $100 million Advancing the Legacy Campaign.

THE DAZZLE AWARDS Honor High School Musical Theater Programs At Playhouse Square

With the aim of inspiring performance and recognizing the importance of musical theater and arts education in Northeast Ohio high schools, Playhouse Square proudly held the fourth annual Dazzle Awards presented by Pat and John Chapman on Saturday, May 18. The Dazzle Awards are affiliated with The Jimmy Awards/The National High School Musical Theatre Awards presented by The Broadway League Foundation.

The Missoula Children's Theatre Presents JOHNNY APPLESEED

Cultivating a new show at the Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) is always an exciting, enriching process. The current production of Johnny Appleseed, from seed to blossom, has proven to be extra sweet and delicious. The world premiere performances of Johnny Appleseed will take place February 15th and 16th at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts.

1776 The Musical Comes To The Soraya Next Month

La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and McCoy Rigby Entertainment present the award-winning and revolutionary 1776 THE MUSICAL at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya), February 8 through 10. 1776 THE MUSICAL, the Tony Award winner for Best Musical (1969) and has music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and book by Peter Stone. It is directed by Glenn Casale with musical direction by Jeff Rizzo.

Playhouse Square Announces Participating Schools For Fourth Annual Dazzle Awards

What does it take to put on a high school musical? Once the director chooses a show, students audition for parts. Casting is announced and then a flurry of activity begins - rehearsing, building sets, preparing and fitting costumes, setting lights, checking microphones and selling tickets. This happens at high schools across Northeast Ohio as students play their roles on stage, backstage or in the orchestra pit.
