Once upon a time, a guy and a girl meet on the streets of Dublin, bond over their shared passion for music, enrich each other's lives, and find the way forward to the separate paths that their lives were meant to follow. With its current homegrown production of ONCE, SpeakEasy Stage Company demonstrates once again its penchant for capturing the essence of an award-winning musical and successfully molding it to fit the expectations of their audience and the parameters of the Roberts Studio Theatre at the Boston Center for the Arts. It was announced today that the run is extended for an additional week due to overwhelming demand.

Due to overwhelming demand, SpeakEasy Stage Company has added seven more performances of its acclaimed production of the Tony Award-winning musical ONCE.  The show will now play through Sunday, April 7, 2019.  

Syracuse Stage announced the shows that will make up the 2019/2020 season: six plays and musicals on subscription plus a special world premiere directed by TV, stage and film actor Taye Diggs. 

The Colony Theatre today announced a return engagement of award-winning magician John Carney. In 2016, Carney appeared on the Colony stage for a single performance and played to a standing room only audience.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Pioneer Theatre Company presents the romantic, Tony Award-winning musical Once, with music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova and book by Enda Walsh. Based on the motion picture written and directed by John Carney, the Sundance film-turned-Broadway-hit won eight Tonys, including Best Musical. The touching love ballad, 'Falling Slowly,' also won the Oscar for Best Song. It runs February 15 through March 2, 2019.

Comedian, actor, and sleight of hand virtuoso John Carney, returns to North Coast Rep in his one-man show: Carney Magic, January 28th & 29th at North Coast Repertory Theatre.

Variety reports that Amazon has set an all-star cast for its upcoming New York Times column-based anthology series “Modern Love.” 

ONCE is a perfect gem of a musical that has found a home at The Segal Centre for Performing Arts. In 2006, writer and director John Carney recruited his long time friend and former bandmate Glen Hansard to write songs for his indie film, which was being produced on a shoestring budget. Due to a series of what could have been perceived as unfortunate events, Hansard took over the male lead opposite Markéta Irglovà, who was also composing songs for the film. The resulting film is both true to life and magical and easily one of the best romantic comedies of a generation. ONCE took home the Audience Award at Sundance before going on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song for Hansard and Irglovà's Falling Slowly.

London-based Irish-born songstress Linda Em presents 'Wild Fire' video in support of her new 'London Irish' EP, released via Talking Elephant Records. This EP is the first step in a different direction for Linda, towards a more atmospheric and spacious sound and vocal performance. It is both poetic and storytelling while still being brutally honest and personal. Her pure and raw vocals beautifully convey a nostalgic lyrical narrative, her warm endearing vocals drawing the listener into her musical story telling.
