Westport Country Playhouse has been awarded a $75,000 Challenge Grant from Newman's Own Foundation to increase individual donor support. The Challenge launched on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, to coincide with #GivingTuesday, a national day of philanthropy, and runs through Tuesday, December 31, 2013.
The National Yiddish Theatre - Folksbiene just presented a remarkable concert event celebrating the folk legend and actor Theodore Bikel in anticipation of his 90th birthday in May 2014. 'Miracle of Miracles: A Chanukah Extravaganza' filled the stage at Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway, last night, December 2 with one rare musical treat after another. Featured in the all-star cast were the beloved Emmy-winning actor Fyvush Finkel, klezmer giant Frank London, the Russian concert phenomenon Psoy Korolenko and the Broadway actors Joanne Borts ('Once') and Elmore James, among many others. If you're wondering whether or not 2013 was a fantastic year for the cabaret art form in New York, all you have to do is scan the amazing list of nominees for this year's BroadwayWorld New York Cabaret Awards and you'll know it was one of the best ever. So now it's time for all you cabaret performers and fans to vote for the best singers, musicians, songs, and shows of the year. Buffalo, NY - The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra brings all of the sounds of the season to Western New Yorkers. The holiday festivities kick off on Thanksgiving weekend, when the BPO joins Neglia Ballet Artists at Shea's Buffalo for the classic ballet, 'The Nutcracker.' Erin Freeman will lead the orchestra. This Christmas Rose Theatre Kingston and Bor Productions will come together to produce The Snow Gorilla. Circus and storytelling will merge to create a hugely entertaining spectacle for the whole family with a touching love story at its heart. The Snow Gorillawill preview from tonight 29 November.
