The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will soon present its Broadway Center Stage production of Guys and Dolls. Helmed by Marc Bruni, the all-star cast will be led by Tony Award® winner James Monroe Iglehart as Nathan Detroit, Tony Award® winner Jessie Mueller as Miss Adelaide, Steven Pasquale as Sky Masterson, and Tony Award® nominee and Grammy Award® winner Phillipa Soo as Sarah Brown. Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced that beloved Broadway stars Ali Ewoldt and Jimmy Smagula will join host Kyle Barisich on the the Bay Street stage for the Music Mondays performance of Sip & Sing LIVE! on Monday, August 29, at 8 p.m.

Jimmy Smagula (Billy Elliot, Phantom, The Full Monty) has launched a new podcast called Baby Mouth. Jimmy grew up on a steady diet of hot dogs, meatloaf and pizza. The end result created an unexpected experience as if I was viewing 'Les Misérables' for the first time with fresh eyes. People get VERY worked up about their precious Les Miserables- case in point, I saw a seven-year-old boy two rows in front of me, dressed in a full Javert costume at the Benedum stop of the national tour. It is so well-known and so well-loved that even if you're not a theatre person you probably know at least a few of the best-known songs, like 'On My Own' and 'Bring Him Home' from constant media saturation. Others you'd recognize from reference and parody: nearly every send-up of musicals from the 1980s on has spoofed 'One Day More' and its increasingly complex but rousing counterpoint.

LES MISERABLES is one of those musicals that people simply love. Over the years the story of young students staging a revolution in Paris has become a pop culture staple, so audiences should be excited, then, to know that the Palace Theatre in Waterbury, CT will play host to the touring production of the show December 3 - 8. Playing the scheming Madame Thenardier when LES MISERABLES stops in Waterbury will be Allison Guinn, who sat down with me to talk about playing her dream role in this iconic musical.
