Rehearsals have begun for Cygnet Theatre's production of Water by the Spoonful by Tony-winning playwright Quiara Alegría Hudes (In the Heights). This Pulitzer prize-winning drama about forgiveness, redemption and family is directed by Meg DeBoard and runs March 23 through April 24. Opening Night for media is Saturday, March 26.

Theatre West, the 59-year-old professional mid-sized theatre based in Hollywood, presents the talented actors of The Shakespeare Workshop under the direction of Nick McDow Musleh in a series of videos available throughout August on the Theatre West Los Angeles YouTube Channel.
Each year a new class, comprised of one to two MFA Playwrights, will be given a commission through the partnership. Playwrights awarded The Finish Line Commission will be given a week-long workshop culminating in a public reading, a financial reward, and an assurance that the play will have an opportunity for a world premiere production at Cygnet.
The Classical Theatre of Harlem presents the second year of its holiday production, A Christmas Carol in Harlem, based on the timeless work by Charles Dickens. This year's production is directed by Carl Cofield based on an adaptation by Shawn René Graham with new choreography by Tiffany Rea-Fisher (Artistic Director of Elisa Monte Dance).This season, the show moves into a three-quarter thrust theater, offering audiences a more intimate theater experience and allowing them to share in the spirit of the show. Cofield has re-imagined large portions of the work to fit this new space and to build on the festive themes throughout the play while allowing the drama of Scrooge's past to unfold. This includes a new set, music pieces, projections, costumes and casting that establishes A Christmas Carol in Harlemas a modern addition to New York City's annual holiday offerings.

The play follows Catherine, the daughter of a recently deceased mathematics professor, as she struggles with the mathematical genius she shares with her father, and the mental illness she fears she might have inherited from him. The Classical Theatre of Harlem (CTH) announces plans for its landmark 2015 season. The Harlem-based American theatre company will present its 15th Anniversary Celebration and Benefit Concert this spring, featuring songs from the eagerly anticipated musical Witness Uganda, winner of the American Academy of Arts and Letters 2014 Richard Rodgers Production Award for Musical Theater; a free summer production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest; and the winter holiday world premiere of a new CTH-commissioned musical, The First Noel.
