Last Tuesday night I went out for some pre-holiday coffee with my good friend, BroadwayWorld Senior Editor Jessica Lewis (Actually we were so engrossed in conversation that we forgot to order coffee. Sorry, Starbucks.), and naturally the topic of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark came up. Jessica had seen the show already and I mentioned how comical it was becoming that, with what right now stands as an eight-week preview period, the reviewing press will be attending long after the Internet has helped establish a firm word-of-mouth opinion.

As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, Lincoln Center Theater will present the new musical WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, based on the film by Pedro Almodóvar, with a book by Jeffrey Lane, music and lyrics by David Yazbek and direction by Bartlett Sher. This world premiere production will begin previews on Saturday, October 2 at 8pm and open on Thursday, November 4 at 6:45pm on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre (111 W. 44 Street). The production stars Patti LuPone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Laura Benanti and Sheri Rene Scott. On Thursday, October 21, 2010 producers Tony Ponturo and Fran Kirmser, along with executive producer Nicole Kastrinos, will open LOMBARDI at the Circle in the Square Theatre on Broadway, directed by Tony nominee Thomas Kail. Previews will begin Thursday, September 23, 2010, following a July 22-28 engagement at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Joining Ponturo and Kirmser as a special producing partner is the National Football League, marking the organization's first foray on Broadway.
