More than 600 students from 24 high schools will take the Eccles Theater Stage for the eighth annual Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards May 12. Producers and Presidents of the Prom Committee Dori Berinstein, Bill Damaschke, Jack Lane and Timothy Laczynski announced today that the hilarious new Broadway musical comedy THE PROM will begin performances on Sunday, October 21, 2018 and officially open on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street).

The ninth annual JIMMY AWARDS were held on Monday, June 26th at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway. 

THE JIMMY AWARDS have announced that 74 high school students from across America will compete for the award for Best Performance by an Actor and Actress as well as other honors and scholarships at the ninth annual awards ceremony. The presentation will take place on Monday, June 26th at 7:30PM at the Minskoff Theatre, 200 West 45th Street in Manhattan.

Two Utah high school performers are on their way to New York City after winning The Chevron Award for Best Actress and Best Actor in the seventh annual Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards held in the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City May 13. Jessica Lewis from DaVinci Academy won for her role as Miriam in 'Fly By Night' and Levi Hopkins from Ridgeline High School won for his portrayal of Gomez Addams in 'The Addams Family.' Broadway meets Utah on May 13, 2017 when more than 250 performers from 29 high school productions across the state compete in the seventh annual Utah High School Musical Theatre Awards at the new George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City.

The Asian American Arts Alliance has launched its inaugural 2016 Van Lier Fellowships in Acting and Directing for early-career theater artists of Asian descent who are 30 and under and based in New York City. Ms. Seonjae Kim is the 2016 Van Lier Directing Fellow and Ms. Diana Oh is the 2016 Van Lier Acting Fellow. Ms. Kim and Ms. Oh were both selected in an open application process by a high-level review panel.

Andrew Jannetti and his young protégé Jessica Lewis have joined forces to create a weekend of dance at University Settlement, June 17-19, presenting two world premieres and a work by guest choreographer Kriota Willberg.  June 17-19 at University Settlement, 184 Eldridge Street.

Perhaps there will be a return season of this charming and cleverly devised piece.
