The Off-Broadway production of The Long Shrift, written by Robert Boswell and directed by James Franco, opened last night at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. The Long Shirt began previews on July 7th and will run through August 23rd. This play is James Franco's directing debut. Tony Award winner Cady Huffman and Kate Shindle are set to head the cast of the world premiere of REVOLUTION IN THE ELBOW OF RAGNAR AGNARSSON FURNITURE PAINTER, a new musical with book, music & lyrics by Ívar Pall Jonsson, based on a story by Ívar and Gunnlaugur Jonsson. Performances will begin July 28th, with the official Opening Night on Wednesday, August 13th at the Minetta Lane Theatre, 18 Minetta Lane (just a few steps from Sixth Ave., one block south of W. 3rd St.). All the Way, written by Robert Schenkkan received the award for Best American Play. A Fun Home received the award for Best Musical. The 80th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon is being held this afternoon, May 16, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square, where winners will be announced for Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and the much coveted Distinguished Performance Award.
