Both theatre enthusiasts and critics alike flock to new shows, hoping to view an exciting production they will always remember. In turn, the actors, crew and creatives involved with these shows work tirelessly to open a production that will engage audiences and give themselves a sense of accomplishment. Although no shows opened during the Spring of 2021 due to the pandemic, April has already demonstrated that Broadway is back again with the opening of ten new productions! The Outer Critics Circle (OCC), the official organization of writers on New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers and national publications, have just announced the nominees for the 71st Annual Outer Critics Circle Awards, honoring the 2021-2022 Broadway and Off-Broadway season.

Second Stage Theater has announced that Deeksha Gaur has joined the Company’s Board of Directors as a Trustee. Additionally, the Board is announcing the appointment of Janet Lynne Knopf, who joined the Board as a Trustee during the pandemic shutdown.

Page 73 announces the 2022 Page 73 Spring Benefit. The event this year honors Barbara Whitman, producer of A Strange Loop on Broadway and, previously, of Fun Home, the 2018 revival of Angels in America, The Humans, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Next to Normal, to name just a few.

Second Stage Theater (Carole Rothman, President and Artistic Director; Khady Kamara, Executive Director) has announced that its hit production of TAKE ME OUT has been extended for two additional weeks on Broadway and will now run through Saturday, June 11th.  Written by Richard Greenberg and directed by Scott Ellis, TAKE ME OUT officially opened to rave reviews on April 4th at Second Stage’s Hayes Theater (240 West 44th Street).
