Production Begins on Starz's Crime Drama HIGHTOWN

Starz, a Lionsgate company (NYSE: LGF.A, LGF.B), announced today that production has commenced on the new STARZ Original Series 'Hightown,' from Rebecca Cutter ('Gotham'), Gary Lennon (STARZ Original Series 'Power') and Jerry Bruckheimer TV. 'Hightown' stars Monica Raymund ('Chicago Fire') and James Badge Dale (Hold the Dark, 13 Hours).

The announcement was made today on social media by series stars and executive producers Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba. The first three installments in the 13-episode series will be exclusively available to Spectrum video subscribers free On Demand (and without ads) on May 13, after which new episodes will release every Monday until the finale.

Freeform announced today that it has signed a script to series deal for “Party Girls,” a half-hour, single-camera dramedy inspired by the true story of Ericka Suzanne, daughter of the first female leader of the Black Panther Party, Elaine Brown. Set in Oakland in the '70s, “Party Girls” will follow Ericka's attempt to survive her adolescence as her mother rises in the Party. The plot explores an unconventional mother-daughter relationship, balancing the stakes of the movement with the humor inherent in coming-of-age, and asking the question how do you rebel when your mom is leading a rebellion?

CBS Orders Drama Pilots UNDER THE BRIDGE and NANCY

Deadline reports that CBS has ordered pilots from medical drama Under the Bridge, from executive producer Rina Mimoun (Mistressses) and Jerry Bruckheimer TV, and police drama Nancy, from co-creator Paul Attanasio and producer Amblin TV. Attanasio also created Homicide: Life on the Street.
