After a wildly successful run last year and subsequent awards for 'Best Musical' and 'Best Actor in a Musical' in the fan nominated and voted on Broadway World's Regional Awards, the West Virginia Public Theatre (WVPT) in Morgantown, WV has decided to bring The Last Five Years back to the stage for a second run, this time heading out on the road for two additional stops after their opening at the Tanner Theatre, located inside the Monongalia Arts Center.

SMASH is a musical drama that celebrates the beauty and heartbreak of the Broadway theater as it follows a cross-section of dreamers and schemers who all have one common desire - to be a Broadway star.

The Town Hall Presents the internationally acclaimed Broadway @ concert series, hosted and music directed by SiriusXM Radio star Seth Rudetsky and produced by Mark Cortale, at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street) on Monday, March 11 at 8pm with Tony Award-nominee Jeremy Jordan.  

The students of Colony High School in Dallas, Texas have quite the exciting legacy with their production of Bonnie & Clyde. All their sets, costumes and props, which includes three cars, come from the original Broadway production which starred Laura Osnes and Jeremy Jordan.

ng their acclaimed run last September, West Virginia Public Theatre (WVPT) returns to Monongalia Arts Center over Valentine's Day Weekend for a strictly limited three-show revival. The Last Five Years, which won both 'Best Musical' and 'Best Actor in a Musical' in the 2018 BroadwayWorld Regional Awards, is an intimate, funny, and devastatingly honest examination of life and love. The production opens on Thursday, February 14 at 8pm, with additional shows on February 15 at 8pm and February 17 at 2pm. There is no performance on Saturday the 16th. All performances will take place in the Tanner Theatre at Monongalia Arts Center (MAC).

American Son, which opened at the Booth Theatre on November 4, will take its final bow today, January 27, following 96 performances and 33 previews. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, following the show's final performance today, Netflix will reassemble the cast at a later date to film the production without an audience present.

Jason Robert Brown's landmark musical Songs for a New World (New York City Center 2018 Encores! Off-Center Cast Recording) is released today, Friday, January 25, in streaming and digital formats, in addition to a two-CD set. This is the show's first recording since the world premiere album over 20 years ago. In the ensuing years, these songs have become staples of contemporary musical theater, including the modern standard "Stars and the Moon." Kerry Washington announced during her appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon that the Broadway play American Son will be filmed for Netflix.

He won a 2017 Tony Award for his portrayal of Cornelius Hackl in "Hello, Dolly!" opposite Bette Midler on Broadway. Now Broadway actor and singer Gavin Creel will be performing with Seth Rudetsky at 8 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.

Jason Robert Brown's next big musical project is on its way to the stage!According to an Equity casting notice, his adaptation of the 1993 film Farewell My Concubine will get a staged reading February 11-15. The project, which features a book by Kenneth Lin, will receive direction by Moises Kaufman and musical direction by Thomas Murray.

We are fortunate to live in an area that has so many talented actors, technicians, and directors as well as dedicated theater companies - not to mention supportive theatergoers. From the local theaters to the Equity tours that come through the area, we are lucky that Syracuse offers many opportunities to experience live theater.
