On Monday, November 14, Sonnet Repertory Theatre hosted its Tenth Annual Benefit and Cabaret. The event brought together a diverse and talented group of performers and composers at Joe's Pub to honor award-winning director and teacher, Gerald Freedman. Celebrating Freedman's career, this evening featured some of Broadway's greatest talents and legends, including Brian d'Arcy James, Jennifer Ferrin, Penny Fuller, Hal Holbrook, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Jeremy Jordan, Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, Terrence Mann, John Mauceri, Estelle Parsons, Austin Pendleton, Bryce Pinkham,Wesley Taylor, Alfred Uhry, Price Waldman, and Emily Young, and including special video tributes by Olympia Dukakis and Chita Rivera. Wesley Taylor (Rock of Ages, The Addams Family, Tales of the City) is rumored to play a recurring role in the Broadway-centric NBC mid-season replacement, SMASH, exec. produced by Steven Spielberg, according to a post on Facebook. Also rumored to play a recurring role is Savannah Wise (Ragtime, Rock of Ages). According to varied sources, Taylor and Wise are rumored to play dancers in the chorus who become friends with Katharine McPhee's character.

NBC is offering viewers a sneak peek at the new NBC series 'The Cape' (two-hour premiere Sunday, January 9, 9-11p.m. ET). In a special promotion, DC Comics will offer viewers the chance to view the one-hour pilot episode of 'The Cape' via their free comic book iPad application during the week preceding the show's premiere on NBC - January 5 through January 8. This is the first time DC Comics has offered long form video through their iPad application (which is also available for the iPhone) and Digital Comics Store. 'The Cape' will move to its regular timeslot on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET starting January 17th. The series stars David Lyons ('ER') as Vince Faraday, a cop who is unjustly accused of a crime and becomes a secret crime fighter.
