Theatre Bay Area, one of the largest regional performing arts service organizations in North America, has announced the finalists of the 2019 TBA Awards. The sixth-annual TBA Awards Celebration will take place on Monday, Nov. 4 at the Herbst Theatre (401 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco).

San Jose Stage Company concludes its 2018-19 season with the musical juggernaut 'Mamma Mia!.' On the plus side, it's refreshing to see a show created largely by women that focuses on strong female characters. On the minus side, the show requires a high tolerance for groan-inducing jokes and song lyrics that make no sense when shoehorned into an alien context.

San Jose Stage's production of MAMMA MIA! will be directed by Allison F. Rich* (who will also play the role of "Tanya Cresham-Leigh"), with choreography by Keith Pinto (who will also play the role of "Harry Bright"). Martin Rojas Dietrich will serve as Associate Music Director. Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier theatre company, opens its 2018-19 season with the Tony Award-winning musical WEST SIDE STORY. Rehearsals are in full swing for the world-premiere musical A Walk on the Moon-based on the Miramax and Village Roadshow Pictures film of the same name-performing at San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater June 9-July 1, 2018.

Closing out the 2017-18 season, A.C.T. will present the world-premiere musical, A Walk on the Moon (June 6-July 1, 2018),based on the Miramax and Village Roadshow Pictures motion picture of the same name. In the summer of '69, America is on the brink of change. In the cities, crowds are protesting the Vietnam War. In the skies, Apollo 11 is speeding towards the first moon landing.

San Francisco Playhouse (Bill English, Artistic Director; Susi Damilano, Producing Director) concludes its thirteenth Mainstage season with the ingenious, award-winning crime noir musical City of Angels, directed by Bill English.

59E59 Theaters will welcome the Ricochet Collective with HAPPILY AFTER EVER, written by Laura Zlatos and directed by Sherri Eden Barber. HAPPILY AFTER EVER begins performances on Wednesday, March 30 for a limited engagement through Saturday, April 16.  Press opening is Wednesday, April 6 at 7:30 PM.  The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 PM; Friday - Saturday at 8:30 PM; and Sunday at 3:30 PM.
