On the Edge Theater Company will be hosting auditions on Saturday, April 10th, 2021 for their upcoming black comedy, Sordid Lives.

First produced in 1978, Buried Child won the 1979 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, catapulting film actor, Sam Shepard to national fame as a playwright. It was honored with five Tony nominations, including a?oeBest Play,a?? for its revival on Broadway in 1996. Set in an old farmhouse in Illinois, Buried Child reflects the frustrations of the American people and their disillusionment with the American dream. At the same time, Mr. Shepard has masterfully created a drama, which is both engaging and entertaining. He has incorporated surrealism and symbolism in the framework of realism. Audience members will likely discover elements within this complex and powerful play, which are as resonant today as they were in 1978.

How characters view life and the value they place on it is at the core of Arthur Miller's ALL MY SONS, directed by Michael Byrne Zemarel at the Vagabond Players Theater in Baltimore.

Capping off the final main­stage show of Fells Point Corner Theatre's sizzling 2015­2016 Season (#FIREintheHOUSE) is a moving and deeply compelling drama by Donald Margulies.

But the play is not all philosophical argument, as important as this is: it also is a love story, a family tale, and an account of the 'band of brothers' that was Gay Men's Health Crisis. And like most great playwrights who turn their attention to public events, Kramer maintains a tight relationship between these stories. Kramer's artistic control of the huge canvas on which he paints is in the end what makes the play so powerful.

The Normal Heart  by Larry Kramer opens at the Vagabond Theatre February 26th, and runs weekends through March 20.

The NAACP Beverly Hills/Hollywood Branch's Theatre Viewing Committee announces nominations for the 25th Annual NAACP Theatre Awards. The awards include 32 categories, which encompass local and equity nominations. Winners will be announced in the first quarter of 2016.

The Vagabond Players in association with The Baltimore Playwrights Festival presents Commander, written by Mario Correa and directed by Chelsea Dove.

"The Journals of Osborne P. Anderson" performs at Theatre/Theater, 5041 West Pico Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90010 and runs thru June 28th. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.

Fells Point Corner Theatre's next production is from the Baltimore Playwrights Festival. UNDER THE POPLAR TREES, written by Rosemary Frisino Toohey and directed by Miriam Bazensky, opens on August 14th and will run until August 31, 2014.

In 2012, Viola Davis and her husband Julius Tennon founded a multi-ethnic production company, JuVee Productions, committed to excellence in film, television, and theater. JuVee's first stage production is the multi-NAACP Theater Award winning show, CAMP LOGAN, which returned on January 25 and runs through March 23, 2014.

Let me just say that I am a fan of small community theatres tucked into residential neighborhoods, so naturally I'm inclined to feel kindly towards FPCT. Aside from the issue of parking on the streets of Fells Point, that is. The theatre, which is in its 27th season of operation, has been updated bit by bit, so the overall feel of the interior is contemporary, open and welcoming. The theatre seats are comfortable and don't squeak at all. At intermission, there are refreshments, including wine, available in the lobby.

The bungled kidnapping of a mysterious businessman has explosive ramifications for a violent petty thief, his emotionally fragile brother and their supposed victim, who soon reveals a variety of surprising secrets. Wickedly funny and powerfully emotional, Orphans portrays these very different men, whose childhood deprivation of love and nurturing has astonishing consequences.
