Pride Films and Plays' annual fall benefit, Simply Sensational, will feature Broadway musical theater star NICK ADAMS, who originated the role of Adam/Felicia in PRISCILLA: QUEEN OF THE DESERT, in its American premiere on Broadway. Prior to PRISCILLA, Adams had major roles in the hit revivals of A CHORUS LINE, GUYS AND DOLLS, CHICAGO and LA CAGE AUX FOLLES and leads in productions at top U.S. regional theaters including Paper Mill Playhouse, Gateway Playhouse and North Shore Music Theater in the New York metro area, and Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. Adams has also been active in film and television work, with roles in the films SEX AND THE CITY 2, and AN ENGLISHMAN IN NEW YORK, and the TV series SMASH, AS THE WORLD TURNS, and THE GUIDING LIGHT. The festivities will take place in The Broadway, the 85-seat venue at Pride Arts Center, 4139 N. Broadway, Chicago. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for the benefit at $75, and include reserved center-section seating for the 7:15 pm performance. General Admission tickets are $50 and include the performance and a post-show dessert reception.SELECT tickets are also available for a $1,000.00, which includes 2 VIP tickets and admission for two to a show rehearsal with Nick the night before the benefit.

Additionally, KCRep officials confirm a new matching gift from Bunni and Paul Copaken which will be a dollar for dollar $100,000 match in support of the New Works (OriginKC) aspect of the Creative Future Fund.

Following a successful and record-breaking cinematic debut, 'Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical!' will be released on Netflix on September 5, 2017.

According to Peter Filichia at Music Theatre International, NEWSIES may be coming to an elementary, middle, or high school near you. Filichia reports that iTheatrics, the company responsible for abridging Broadway musicals for younger performers, is currently working on an adaptation of NEWSIES.

The Broadway in the Boros series concluded last night, July 31st, in the Bronx with a free outdoor screening of 'Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical!'. On August 21st, over 70 caring members of the Broadway community, including some of the biggest stars on Broadway, will be sleeping on the streets of New York City in support of the homeless youth at Covenant House.
When David Moscow made his 'Big'-screen debut in 1988, it was huge. Penny Marshall had plucked this precocious, 11-year-old kid from the Bronx to play the younger version of Tom Hanks' character, Josh Baskin. This comic fantasy-fable about a boy who literally became 'Big' overnight, was a giant box-office hit. Moscow was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor in a Comedy. In partnership with the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment's Broadway in the Boros series, 'Disney's Newsies: The Broadway Musical!' will premiere the first outdoor screening of the film on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Williamsbridge Park Oval in the Bronx (3225 Reservoir Oval E).
