The American Theatre Wing (Heather Hitchens, President) and The Village Voice (Peter Barbey, Owner) are thrilled to announce the winners of the 61st Annual Obie Awards. Rajiv Joseph's Guards at the Taj, produced by the Atlantic Theater Company, received the Obie Award® for Best New American Play, which is accompanied by a $1,000 prize. Legendary actor/dancer/choreographer Carmen de Lavallade and renowned playwright A.R. Gurney each received a special Obie Award® for Lifetime Achievement. Obie and Screen Actors Guild® Award-winning actress Lea DeLaria returned as host of this year's ceremony, which was held at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street). Following two sold-out NYC engagements, The Woodsman, will conclude its critically-lauded Off-Broadway run on Sunday, May 29, 2016 (following the 7:30pm performance) at New World Stages - Stage 5 (340 West 50th Street, NYC). For the first time, the Fred and Adele Astaire Awards have explored recognizing excellence in dance, movement, and choreography off-Broadway. The world-premiere production of WRINGER, a new musical by Jacob Yandura and Rebekah Greer Melocik. Produced by the award-winning New York City Children's Theater, begins today at New York City Center Stage II. The production continues through April 17, 2016.

The critically acclaimed new play THE WOODSMAN is a uniquely inventive retelling of the origins of Oz's Tin Woodsman, currently playing at Off-Broadway's New World Stages - Stage 5 (340 West 50th Street, NYC). Rosie O'Donnell, who is obsessed with the show, offered to sit down with the show's star, creator, designer and director James Hortiz to learn about the magical world he has created. Laura Osnes who will perform in "The Broadway Princess Party" at 54 Below on March 13, got up close and personal with the main (metal) man himself on Wednesday evening at THE WOODSMAN Off-Broadway.
