James Bundy, whose creativity and vision have supported advances in both drama education and practice and positioned Yale for leadership in the field, has been reappointed for a fifth term as Elizabeth Parker Ware Dean of the David Geffen School of Drama and artistic director of Yale Repertory Theatre, President Peter Salovey announced today.

David Geffen School of Drama at Yale, the only graduate-level professional conservatory in the English-speaking world to offer training in every theatrical discipline, seeks applicants for Fall 2022 admission.

Yale School of Drama has announced that they will stop charging tuition after receiving a $150 million gift from David Geffen. Beginning in August, tuition will be eliminated for all returning and future students in its masters, doctoral and certificate programs.

Yale Repertory Theatre will welcome audiences back to its theaters beginning in January 2022 for a season of three plays! Tamilla Woodard has been appointed Chair of the Acting Department at Yale School of Drama and Resident Director at Yale Repertory Theatre. She will be working part-time this spring to prepare for the upcoming academic year; her five-year term begins officially on July 1, 2021.

Theatre for a New Audience presents First Love, a theatricalization for Zoom of Samuel Beckett's short story of the same name, directed by six-time OBIE winner JoAnne Akalaitis and performed by Tony and Emmy Award nominee Bill Camp (Broadway: Death of a Salesman, The Crucible; TV: The Queen's Gambit, The Night Of). Following updated guidance from Yale University on Tuesday evening, March 10, in response to the ongoing challenges posed by COVID-19, James Bundy, Artistic Director of Yale Repertory Theatre, has announced that the final two productions of the season, A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, directed by Carl Cofield, and Testmatch by Kate Attwell, directed by Margot Bordelon, have been canceled. 

In response to Yale University's March 7 recommendation that all campus events of more than 100 people (excluding classes) be postponed, canceled, or adjusted, in order to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Yale Repertory Theatre has implemented new audience capacity and ticket policies and a revised performance schedule for Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, directed by Carl Cofield.

Long Wharf Theatre (Jacob G. Padrón, Artistic Director; Kit Ingui, Managing Director), in collaboration with Yale Repertory Theatre (James Bundy, Artistic Director; Victoria Nolan, Managing Director), will host the 2020 New Haven Regional August Wilson Monologue Competition (AWMC). The Regional Competition will be presented on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 7 PM at Long Wharf Theatre, 222 Sargent Drive, New Haven, CT 06511. Fifteen participants from the Greater New Haven Area, Hartford County, and Fairfield County, will compete to win all-expense paid trip to the National Competition in NYC where the top two will perform on a Broadway stage, see a Broadway play, and have a chance to win college scholarships. The National Competition will take place in May 4, 2020 at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre.
