Carla L. Jackson Appointed Assistant Dean & General Manager at David Geffen School of Drama/Yale Repertory Theatre

Carla L. Jackson has been appointed Assistant Dean/General Manager at David Geffen School of Drama/Yale Repertory Theatre, joining the leadership team of James Bundy, Dean/Artistic Director; Florie Seery, Associate Dean/Managing Director; and Chantal Rodriguez, Associate Dean. She also joins the faculty of the Theater Management program as Assistant Professor Adjunct.

A seasoned nonprofit administrator with decades of experience running theater and academic programs, Carla L. Jackson returns to the Geffen School, where she earned her M.F.A., from the Yale Schwarzman Center, where she most recently served as the Audience Services Manager. She also creates favorable business-to-consumer and what she describes as heart-to-heart/heart-to-mind relationships for clients including Nike, Austin Community College Center for Public Policy, the California Wellness Foundation, the California African American Museum, the Hip Hop International Dance Championship, and Bright Now Beyond by artist Daniel Alexander Jones.

"It is my pleasure to welcome back Carla L. Jackson to David Geffen School of Drama," said James Bundy. "She brings an anti-racist perspective to her work and is passionate about collaborating in a theatre community: I am thrilled to be joined in leadership by such a brilliant and energetic colleague."

"I'm delighted and honored to be returning to David Geffen School of Drama, where the pairing of rigorous academic work with 'boots on the ground' training of running Yale Repertory Theatre was invaluable to my development as a film and theater producer and event marketer," Carla L. Jackson said. "Yale also honed my ability to lead, collaborate, and communicate with diverse colleagues and stakeholders. I'm looking forward to bringing my lived experiences as a Black female entrepreneur and theater administrator to the Geffen School and to learn from the brilliant students, staff, and faculty."

Prior to her work at Yale, Jackson served as Program Manager at Center Theatre Group, overseeing its August Wilson Programs, including the In-School Residency and Monologue Competition; the Administrator of the Theatre Program at Fordham University, Lincoln Center; the Founding Associate Director of the Center for Public Policy and Political Studies at Austin Community College District; and as the marketing manager on award-winning Broadway and off-Broadway productions, including August Wilson's Jitney and King Hedley ll. She received her B.A. in theater, summa cum laude, from Fordham University; her M.F.A. from what is now David Geffen School of Drama; and her M.S. in Marketing Intelligence from Fordham's Gabelli School of Business.
