There is a lot to like packed into this production directed by Randal Myler. The action is well paced and well-staged. The use of turntables, tiering, and scrims are particularly effective elements of the scenic design by Tim Mackabee. The choreography by Brian Reeder, and costumes designed by Leon Dobkowski present a feast for the eyes. The entire 19-members of the cast deliver in acting, singing, and dancing. It would be an oversight not to call out the performance of Richard Crandle. His portrayal of Little Richard is brassy, sassy, and all kinds of Woooooooo. The audience is noticeably energized when Crandle is on stage and few wish he would 'shet-up' as if that were even remotely possible.

This July, Carnegie Hall will bring together more than 200 of the finest teen musicians from across the country to perform as part of its three acclaimed national youth ensembles: the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA), NYO2, and NYO Jazz. All three ensembles will take part in an intensive training residency at Purchase College, SUNY before performing at Carnegie Hall and embarking on tours across the country and around the world, serving as America's dynamic musical ambassadors. In total, 222 musicians will take part in this year's program, representing 39 US states plus Puerto Rico.

Carnegie Hall today announced that the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America(NYO-USA) will return to the BBC Proms in London for the first time since the orchestra's inaugural 2013 season, performing on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Conductor Sir Antonio Pappano will lead NYO-USA in Strauss's Eine Alpensinfonie and Berlioz's Les nuits d'été featuring mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato. The concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and filmed for delayed viewing on BBC Four TV, to air on Friday, August 16.

Broadway, film and television actress Lizan Mitchell, a Drama Desk Award nominee for The Trojan Women, has joined the cast of the staged reading of Tylie Shider's Parable of the Backyard Roots. The reading is an installment in the Frank Silvera Writers' Workshop monthly play reading series in partnership with The Billie Holiday Theatre, and will be held at The Billie on Monday, December 10 at 7 pm.

The Dallas Opera is proud to present the second production of the 2018-2019 “Swept Away” Season: Georges Bizet's colorful, sensual and passionate 19th century masterpiece, Carmen, one of the most beloved and popular works in the entire opera canon. Carmen opens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 in the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in the Dallas Arts District.

The ShakesBEER pub-crawl is a fall happening, and like the other programs by New York Shakespeare Exchange, it is entertaining and captivating. The presentations were held on three consecutive Saturday afternoons on 9/15, 9/22, and 9/29.

The BARS program at the Public Theater has just finished it's second year of their Alumni program, where selected BARS members spend the summer developing their first full length works, under the mentorshop of Rafael Casal, Daveed Diggs and the NEW WORKS department.
