La Jolla Playhouse Launches 2020 POP Tour, Developed In Partnership With National Disability Theatre

La Jolla Playhouse is pleased to launch its 2020 Performance Outreach Program (POP) Tour production: Emily Driver's Great Race through Time and Space, by A.A. Brenner and Gregg Mozgala, directed by National Disability Theatre (NDT) Co-Executive Directors and Playhouse Artists-in-Residence Talleri A. McRae and Mickey Rowe. The production will tour schools throughout San Diego County January 29 a?" March 27.  Commissioned by the Playhouse, this world-premiere play for young audiences will also have four public performances on February 29 and March 1 at 1:00pm and 3:00pm at La Jolla Playhouse. ROSES ARE BLIND, Featuring Boyd Gaines & Daniel Davis, to be Screened at Anthology Archives

Roses are Blind, an award-winning film featuring 4-time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines and Tony nominee Daniel Davis will have a screening in NYC on Wed. 1/15 at 8:15pm at Anthology Archives (62 Second Avenue) as part of the NewFilmmakers New York Film Festival. Tickets are $7 and go on sale at 5:30pm the night of screening at the Anthology Box Office. The film is directed by Gui Agustini, Executive Produced by Wendy J. White and co-written by Agustini and White.

BWW Review: GRUMPY OLD MEN at Broadway Palm

Going to see Broadway Palm's latest production, Grumpy Old Men, did this baby boomer's heart good. This show demonstrates that senior citizens can still fall in love and are still-gasp!-interested in sex. The seasoned performers belt out the songs and deliver the somewhat bawdy lines and gestures with impressive vigor.

Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts more than 120 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 50th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), which runs April 16-20, 2019 in multiple locations throughout the Center. The Center also announced the national awardees for the KCACTF. Selected awardees and representatives will be brought to Washington, D.C. for an expense-paid trip to participate in the National Festival. These student artists from across the United States have been recognized for their outstanding work from the eight regional festivals that were held January 8 through February 28, 2019.

History comes alive at Woodlawn Cemetery, Mausoleum & Mortuary in Santa Monica during their Living History Tour in which costumed actors portraying noted personalities interred there share their stories and contributions to history and society. And although I had heard about the tours in previous years, last weekend was the first time I actually spent two hours on a wonderfully brilliant Saturday afternoon walking among the many souls who chose this peaceful spot as their final resting place. This year's tour featured 14 notable characters more than willing to share their life stories, often adding in many details not widely known about them.
