TCG Announces Grants for Mid-Career, Veteran Theatre Professionals

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) announces the 2015 Round 3 Cycle A recipients of the Leadership U[niversity]-Continuing Ed program. Through the support of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, grants of up to $5,000 will support four mid-career and veteran theatre professionals at TCG Member Theatres for learning opportunities to advance their leadership skills. The goal of this program is to strengthen the field by developing the individuals who are the core and the future of theatre.

KC Rep Stages World Premiere of STICKY TRAPS, Now thru 5/24

Kansas City Repertory Theatre continues its 50th anniversary season with Sticky Traps, a powerful new play by KC Rep's Playwright in Residence, Nathan Louis Jackson, Directed by Resident Director, Kyle Hatley. Sticky Traps focuses on a small town not far from Kansas City, where a mother protects her gay son's honor when his funeral is protested by a local church. Her actions have unintended consequences that will test her whole family - and the power of their love -- in the face of hate. The production begins tonight, April 24th and runs through Sunday, May 24th at Copaken Stage in downtown Kansas City.

Seven Devils Playwrights Conference Announces 2015 Writers; Runs 6/8-20

Five playwrights from across the country have been selected to develop and present their plays as part of the 15th Seven Devils Playwrights Conference. These writers, selected from over 450 open submissions are: Robert Caisley, who will also serve as the 2015 Conference's Featured Playwright with his play The Open Hand, Jennifer Blackmer with her play Unraveled, Bernadine Cockey with her play Relative Madness, J. Joseph Cox with his play Koalas and Sara Jean Accuardi with her play <3.

DOUBT to Run 4/28-7/19 at Writers Theatre

Artistic Director Michael Halberstam and Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma announce the Writers Theatre production of Doubt: A Parable by John Patrick Shanley, directed by William Brown. The show runs April 28 - July 19, 2015 at Glencoe Union Church, 263 Park Ave, Glencoe. The Press Openings are Wednesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 7.

Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis announces the World Premiere production of Typhoid Mary opening April 30, 2015 on the Frank and Katrina Basile Stage. This production runs through May 24, 2015, with Bill Simmons serving as director. Tom Horan wrote Typhoid Mary in 2013 during his first season as the Phoenix Theatre's Playwright-in-Residence.

Since then he has worked with The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles in The Merchant of Venice, The Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis in Henry IV and Henry V, Indiana Repertory Theatre in The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in Much Ado About Nothing.
