Living Over The Rainbow is a new musical based on a true story that made national headlines in 2008 when a young gay teenager, Lawrence King, was murdered by a fellow classmate at his high school in Oxnard, California. The circumstances of his death and the issues brought to light by it have now been made into a heartfelt and inspirational musical about acceptance and finding peace crafted by Roz Esposito.

Today Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein of the Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company announced the Twelfth Season of Keen Teens. This season's offerings will be Winifred & Myrtle Go to High School by Leah Nanako Wrinkler, directed by Michael Goldfried; Around 2 by James Anthony Tyler, directed by Estefania Fadul; and The Caribbean Queen with book & lyrics by Jamie Cowperthwait, music & lyrics by Salomon Lerner, directed and choreographed by Ilana Ransom Toeplitz with musical direction by Salomon Lerner. An-Lin Dauber will provide scenic design, with costume design by Karen Boyer, lighting design by Kate August and sound design by Karl Berntson.

The Drama League announced today the expansion of their annual event, DirectorFest, into a multi-week, city-wide festival focusing on the art of contemporary stage directing.

The Drama League officially launches DirectorFest tomorrow, a city-wide festival focusing on the art and future of contemporary American stage directing, at various locations around NYC: The Sheen Center for Thought and Culture (18 Bleecker Street), The Drama League Theater Center (32 Avenue of the Americas), and The Drama Book Shop (250 West 40th Street) from January 13-22, 2018. The tenth season of New York Theatre Barn's New Works Series launches on Monday, February 27, 2017 at The Cell with pre-premieres of two new musicals: For Tonight and The Brontes.

The full cast is set for CRUDE - THE MUSICAL, an official selection of the 2016 New York Musical Festival (NYMF). CRUDE is one of 10 new musicals to be presented as readings at the festival this month.  

The Drama League today announced the new team to replace longtime artistic director Roger T. Danforth, who departs the storied company this summer. Travis LeMont Ballenger has been named to the newly created position of Associate Producer, and Sherri Eden Barber will assume the role of Program Director. Gabriel Stelian-Shanks will see his position expanded to the role of Executive Artistic Director

The Drama League has announced the 11 stage directors who have been selected as the 2016 Directing Fellows of The Drama League Directors Project: Noa Egozi, Drew Feldman, Sara Holdren, Candis Jones, Yavor Kostov, Katie Lupica, James Palmer, Jesca Prudencio, Ilana Ransom Toeplitz, Chloe Treat, Shaun Patrick Tubbs.
