Former First Lady Michelle Obama stopped by the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House to welcome students and help kick off the first annual Young Women's Leadership Conference: Leadership Lessons Learned through the Arts. The program, produced by the nonprofit AT&T Performing Arts Center, included 150 young women from nine North Texas high schools and organizations who - thanks to donors and underwriting - participated free of charge.

The team at Prima, a contemporary theatre organization in Lancaster, saw there was still more progress to be made. With the belief that a city this dynamic deserves a cultural scene that suits its growing vibrancy, Prima's Executive Artistic Producer, Mitch Nugent, set out to create a new home for fresh theatrical experiences in Lancaster.

On Saturday, October 14 at 2:00 p.m.,Orchestra of St. Luke's returns to Carnegie Hall as three fantastic family-friendly stories are brought to life through music. Prokofiev's classic Peter and the Wolf is performed alongside two new compositions: Caroline Shaw's adaptation of The Mountain That Loved a Bird byAlice McLerran, commissioned by Carnegie Hall, and Robert Xavier Rodriguez's take on a favorite children's book, The Dot and the Line by Norton Juster, author of The Phantom Tollbooth, with the author in attendance for the performance. Edwin Outwater conducts, and renowned actor John Lithgow narrates this special Family Concert in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage.

Theatre Now New York presented the 2nd Annual Sound Bites 10 Minute Musical Theatre Festival on December 8th 2014 at the 47th Street Theatre. An after-party, sponsored by Music Theatre International, was held after at Hurley's Saloon where awards were given and merriment was had.

Envelope Ensemble has announced a new musical adaptation of the Euripides classic The Bacchae to be presented in an art and music filled reading January 25-27 at Catland Books, located at 987 Flushing Ave in Bushwick with shows at 9 p.m. on Saturday and 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.

As a very special companion piece to the production, the producers will present an evening of the works of legendary CHILDREN OF EDEN songwriter Stephen Schwartz. This July 18th gala concert event will include musical performances from the multi-award winning author's entire body of works, including PIPPIN, GODSPELL and WICKED. The evening will feature some of Broadway's top talents, Kansas City theatre veterans and the composer himself.
