Theatre for a New Audience (TFANA; Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director) will present the New York premiere of celebrated American playwright Will Eno's Gnit, inspired by Henrik Ibsen's Peer Gynt (originally published in 1867). Directed by Eno's frequent collaborator, the Obie and Lortel Award-Winner Oliver Butler (Eno's 2014 The Open House and the 2018 revival of Thom Paine (based on nothing), starring Michael C. Hall, both at Signature Theater, and 2019's The Plot at Yale Rep; Heidi Schreck's Tony Award-nominated What the Constitution Means to Me).

Henrik Ibsen, one of the world's most popular and influential playwrights himself, even declared, a?oeI am still uncertain as to whether I should call An Enemy of the People a comedy or a straight drama. It may have many traits of comedy, but it also is based on a serious idea.' This play has been considered one of Ibsen's finest works, coming from the playwright who authored, A Doll's House.

Ila Arun, the singer, producer, actress who has starred in such films as Thugs of Hindustan and Manto and produces Plays with Surnai Theater, has cast Sheena Chohan, an actress who was nominated as Best Actress at the Shanghai and Dubai Film Festivals, to play the role of Laila in the play Peer Ghani, by Henrik Ibsen, which will be showcased at the Royal Opera House Mumbai and also staged at Prithvi Theatre this January 2020. The play is directed by KK Raina.

Donmar Warehouse's contemporary and innovative all-female production of Shakespeare's Henry IV makes its way to the platform on January 16, while Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht's The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny joins on January 23. Finally, one of the greatest successes of the National Ballet of Norway, the stunning ballet Hedda Gabler, will be available on January 30.
