The Chocolate Factory is thrilled to announce the acquisition of a new permanent facility in Western Queens. Located at 38-29 24th Street in Long Island City, the standalone 7,500 square foot, one story industrial building will become the organization's permanent home and will ultimately house all of its performance and residency activity. The new facility is three times larger than its current space and, when open, will include a 99-120 seat flexible performance space with a sprung-wood dance floor, a 2,000 square foot rehearsal space, and office space. On March 2, 2013, Olney Theatre Center will host the Diamond Gala, a black-tie fundraising event celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Olney Theatre Center. The event will include a cocktail hour, a seated dinner, live musical performances from Olney favorites George Dvorsky (Annie, The Sound of Music), Jessica Lauren Ball (1776, Grease, The Sound of Music, Cinderella), Donna Migliaccio (The Sound of Music, Cinderella), Caitlin Deerin (Annie), Parker Drown (Grease, Cinderella, Spring Awakening), MaryLee Adams (Spring Awakening) and Bobby Smith (Annie, The Sound of Music, Little Shop of Horrors), as well as silent and live auctions. Funds raised from the event will support Olney's artistic and educational programming which reaches over 100,000 audience members a year in Maryland and nationwide. (more...)

The event raised more than $150,000 for the theatre and its programs, including its educational and outreach programs that bring theatre and the arts to public school students.
