Olney Theatre Center, a Maryland destination for professional theater performance and education, continues its critically-acclaimed 76thAnniversary season with a starry cast of DC-area veteran award-winners in Clifford Odets' classic family drama AWAKE AND SING! September 24 - October 19, 2014 on the Mainstage. Directed by Studio Theatre Producing Director (and 2013 Helen Hayes Award Winner) Serge Seiden, the cast features2014 Helen Hayes Award Winner Rick Foucheux, 2011 Helen Hayes Award Winner Naomi Jacobson, Rick Foucheux, Olney veteran Paul Morella, and Olney newcomers Laura C. Harris and Alex Mandell.

Director Serge Seiden won a
Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Director Resident Musical, among others, and has received many additional nominations. He has also directed at Theatre J, MetroStage, Adventure Theatre-MTC, and
Studio Theatre.
The AWAKE AND SING! cast is led by two time
Helen Hayes award-winner and Olney Theatre Center veteran
Naomi Jacobson as the Berger family's overbearing matriarch Bessie. Ms. Jacobson has been seen at Olney Theatre Center in Stuff Happens, Look and We Have Come Through. Ms. Jacobson has been in multiple shows at
Arena Stage, The Kennedy Center, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company and
Signature Theatre, among others.
Rick Foucheux joins the cast as Jacob. Mr. Roucheux recently won the
Robert Prosky Award for Outstanding Lead Actor for his role in the critically acclaimed Glengarry
Glenn Ross at Roundhouse Theatre. He was last seen at Olney Theatre Center as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof.
The cast also includes Olney Theatre favorite
Paul Morella, who was recently seen at Olney Theatre Center in The Tempest, A Christmas Carol, andRancho Mirage. Mr. Morella has been seen at
Folger Theatre, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company,
Arena Stage, and
Signature Theatre. He is joined by
Richard Pelzman, who was last seen at Olney Theatre in Omnium Gatherum, and has also been seen at Ford's Theatre. We welcome Olney Theatre newcomers Laura
C. Harris, who has been seen recently at Round House Theatre,
Signature Theatre and
Studio Theatre,
Chris Genebach, last seen at the
Shakespeare Theatre Company and
Folger Theatre, Joshua Morgan, who has been seen at Woolly Mammoth,
Signature Theatre,
Arena Stage and is the Artistic Director of No Rules Theatre Co., and
Alex Mandell, last seen at 1st Stage and The Kennedy Center.
Director Serge Seiden is joined by an award-winning design team that includes Scenic Designer
Jack Magaw, Lighting Designer Daniel Maclean Wagner, Sound Designer Max Krembs, and Costume Designer Caitlin Rain.
