Nearly £10,000 has been raised for Birmingham Hippodrome's work with young people at a spectacular gala evening this week.

The Tony Award-winning Alley Theatre is presenting the world premiere production - Lend Me A Soprano, written by Tony-Award winner Ken Ludwig. This hilarious production runs through October 9, 2022 in the Hubbard Theatre and is directed by Eleanor Holdridge. See new photos from the production here!

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced complete casting for the Special Benefit Concert Reading of The Pirates of Penzance. The concert will be taking place on Monday, October 17, 2022 at the American Airlines Theatre. 

They will join the women previously announced to receive Crystal Awards—”Abbott Elementary” creator Quinta Brunson, “The Woman King” director Gina Prince-Bythewood, and “Don’t Worry Darling” writer and director Katie Silberman and Olivia Wilde—as well as Jane Fonda Humanitarian Award recipient Michaela Coel.

Tony Award-winner Jessie Mueller (Beautiful, Waitress, Carousel and The Minutes) will present a hometown concert, hosted and music directed by Sirius XM radio star Seth Rudetsky at Steppenwolf. The concert on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 8 pm in Steppenwolf’s Downstairs Theater.

WQXR and Carnegie Hall are uniting to present the 2022-2023 season of Carnegie Hall Live, a series of live concert broadcasts, hosted by WQXR’s Jeff Spurgeon and WNYC’s John Schaefer. 

The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, in the College of Fine, Performing, and Communication Arts at Wayne State University is proud to present Rent with book, music, and lyrics by Jonathan Larson. Directed by Michael Barnes, this production performs live on-stage now through October 2 at the Hilberry Theatre located at 4743 Cass Ave.

On the 130th anniversary of the birth of Russian poet Marina Tsvetaeva, during a time when immigrants, women and artists face increasing struggle in the United States, acclaimed Russian-born saxophonist and composer Lena Bloch premieres My Name Is Marina, a commissioned jazz suite for ensemble and voice featuring her own English translations of Tsvetaeva's works.

George Bartenieff – actor, director, and co-founder of Theater for the New City – will be remembered at one of theatres he called home, La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club. Bartenieff’s life and work will be celebrated at Coffeehouse Chronicles #166 on October 1, 2022 at 3pm, at the Ellen Stewart Theatre.

When I go to a theatre production, I hope for a show that whisks me away from my current worries. I crave to see spectacle and beauty in the visual elements, and I wish to be stunned by the talent. Ken Ludwig's LEND ME A SOPRANO at the Alley Theatre gave me everything I desire in a theatre production! You do not want to miss this show's debut.

A descendant of Motown royalty, Karla Gordy Bristol will present Motown: Celebrating The Music, The Magic, The Love  October 1, 2022. This world premiere, created, produced and directed by Karla, will feature a panel and show that includes: Shelly Berger, Janie Bradford, Duke Fakir, William Goldstein, Iris Gordy, Brian Holland, Brenda Holloway, Thelma Houston, Miller London, Scherrie, Lynda  & Susaye (Former Ladies of The Supremes), Martha Reeves, Paul Riser, Claudette Robinson, Smokey Robinson and Otis Williams. Pat Harvey acts as master of ceremonies, with Shadoe Stevens announcing and Patrice Rushen as panel moderator. Karla managed to carve out some time to answer a few of my queries.

On October 28, 2022, Houston Grand Opera (HGO) will open a must-see new production of Dame Ethel Smyth's epic 1906 opera The Wreckers. This will be the first-ever full-scale production of The Wreckers from a major American opera company.

The album’s composer Alex Wroten is joined by an array of highly acclaimed vocalists to bring the story to life: The Residents, Shawn Phillips, Brian Poole (Renaldo & The Loaf), R. La MaMa in association with Kinding Sindaw presents the New York premiere of Posaka from October 20 - 23, 2022 at The Downstairs at La MaMa. Through ritual dance and chanted epics, Indigenous tradition-bearers visiting from the Philippines share the healing traditions of four sacred lineages: Maguindanao, Meranao, Tausug, and Tboli.

According to an interview with the NY Post, Harvey Fierstein wants pop superstar Harry Styles to star as Charlie in a rumored movie version of his musical KINKY BOOTS. 

The performance will mark the first televised performance from the musical. Michele will also be sitting down with Fallon discuss returning to Broadway in the role. The Glee star is currently playing Fanny Brice in the Broadway revival of Funny Girl at the August Wilson Theatre.

Johnny Berchtold will join the cast of the New York Premiere production of CAMP SIEGFRIED, the new play from Tony Award-nominee BESS WOHL (2ST’s Grand Horizons and Make Believe), directed by Tony Award-winner DAVID CROMER (The Band’s Visit, 2ST’s Man from Nebraska) at Second Stage Theater.
