Award-winning theatre company Headlong has announced the appointment of Kathy Bourne as the new Chair of the Board. Kathy, who is Executive Director of Chichester Festival Theatre, will take up the position from Donna Munday in June 2023. Donna Munday has stepped down after 13 years on the board with just over 3 years as Chair. 

The Provincetown Theater will be presenting their production of the longest running musical in theatre history. THE FANTASTICKS will take to the stage as the company presents an updated re-imagined version of the classic love story, written and updated by the original author, Tom Jones.

Antaeus Theatre Company has extended the run of Shakespeare’s The Tempest through July 30.

Returning to Governors Island this coming Saturday is jazz drummer William Hooker. He brings a trio to the Nolan Park section of the island in Building 10B. This free concert is co-presented with the West Harlem Art Fund.

The beautiful Plaza Theatre uses its 276 seat ‘in-the-round’ seating to capture all the action (and there’s plenty) for this “Little Train That Could” themed production of NEWSIES.

There are certain moments of history that become emblazoned in our collective human  psyches. Fans of American popular music all remember with a searing certainty the day when Charles Hardin Holley was killed in a plane crash at age twenty-two,  his pioneering meteoric rock ‘n’ roll career brought to a tragic end. But if  Feb 3,1959, was “the day the music died “ - as Don McLean wrote - MSMT’s Buddy Holly STORY turns that trope on its head. The new production, staged by Angela C. Howell makes clear that the legacy of Buddy Holly lives, and if MSMT’s production of the jukebox musical about Holly’s legend and his legacy rocks the Pickard Theater to the rafters with its visceral musical energy, it also speaks volumes about the warmth and heart of the Holly story.

The Old Globe has announced the full cast and creative team for the Globe-commissioned world premiere of Crime and Punishment, A Comedy, written by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen and directed by Greenberg.

The Firehouse Theatre has announced the cast and creative team of the upcoming production of Disney’s Newsies.  

Join in for a lecture, poetry reading, and conversation with Lorna Goodison and Amy E. Elkins. Elkins will share her research on craft and 20th century literature, introducing the interplay between poetry and painting in Goodison’s writing. Goodison will reflect on her training at the Art Students League with Jacob Lawrence who began his teaching career in 1946 at Black Mountain College.

FUNNY GIRL, the sensational musical comedy revival, is coming to DPAC for a limited one-week engagement from November 7 – 12, 2023, as part of Truist Broadway at DPAC.   

Victor Harvey, founder of Victor George Spirits (VGS) presented a $10,000 donation to representatives from the Fort Mose' Historical Society in St. Augustine on Friday, June 23. Former NFL player Oronde Gadsden, a Charleston South Carolina native joined Harvey for the presentation to share his insights.

“Back To Life” finds Poolside--the recording project of Los Angeles-based producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jeffrey Paradise—teaming again with Australian artist Panama. Known for their previous releases “Kinda Lovely” and “Can’t Stop Your Lovin’”-- both which appeared on Poolside’s Low Season album.
