Handsome Brad and Cherry Pitz Present The 9th Annual Hotsy Totsy Burlesque Tribute to The Star Wars Holiday Special at The Slipper Room on Thursday, December 9, 2021.

On December 22 (9pm on CBS), five Honorees will receive the 44th Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime artistic achievements. Plenty of Broadway babies have been honored at past ceremonies and the best of Broadway makes the trip to DC to tribute them. Check out just a few of our favorites.

Peninsula Players Theatre presents a reading of John Van Druten's whimsical comedy 'Bell, Book and Candle' on Monday, March 1, at 7 p.m. CST as part of The Play's the Thing, the theater's winter play reading series.

However, Harvey’s greatest role was as a father to his children and a tireless advocate for his son Christopher. Producer Mark Cortale has announced the opening of two shows for summer-long runs in Provincetown, starting this month. First, drag comedy legend Varla Jean Merman premiered her new comedy show Superspreader on July 9 which will run until September 12 poolside at the Crown & Anchor, featuring Gerald Goode at the piano.

All 11 seasons of one of the most acclaimed and influential TV series of all-time, and the winner of 25 Emmy® Awards, “The Carol Burnett Show,” will be available for viewing on streaming platforms in June and Shout! Factory TV will be celebrating the release with a weekend-long marathon May 30 and 31!

Just when gloom and doom seems to be coming at us from all angles, Desert Theatreworks presents one of the funniest, finest works they have ever staged. Following its laugh filled opening night, the company has put the show on hiatus per government guidelines, but it certainly must resume its run as soon as allowed.

Producer Mark Cortale has announced that international chanteuse and drag superstar Varla Jean Merman will premiere her hilarious new comedy show A Star Is Bored in Los Angeles at Largo on Thursday, March 26 at 8:00 PM. After 25 years of giving over 75% of her best at every performance, Varla is well, tired.

The Groundlings' latest Friday/Saturday night show GROUNDLINGS BAR FIGHT opens Valentine's February 14, 2020. Deanna Oliver, will be oh, so lovingly corralling and directing a talented troupe of eleven Groundlings as they tickle our funny bones with their fresh and funny BAR FIGHT sketches. A Groundlings alumni of 40+ years, Deanna managed to take some time out from rehearsals and teaching at The Groundlings School to answer a few of my quizzical queries.

Emmy Award-winning comedian and writer Judy Gold shares the stage for the first time ever with Boston-area cabaret sensation and Norton Award winner Varla Jean Merman at the Huntington Theatre Company for one night only on Saturday, October 19 at the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA. Performance times are 6pm and 9pm. Produced by Mark Cortale, these two extraordinary talents will deliver what is sure to be an unforgettable evening of music, stand-up, and all-around hilarity. Legendary comedian Buddy Hackett is brought to life in My Buddy, a live musical, theatrical production, told by the person closest to him…his son, Sandy Hackett. It runs June 28 - 30, 2019 at Bristol Riverside Theatre.

Starting Sunday, April 14th, lost episodes of the groundbreaking The Carol Burnett Show will return to broadcast television only on MeTV, America's #1 classic television network. Airing Sunday nights at 10:30pm ET/PT and Monday-Friday at 11pm ET/PT, these rarely seen episodes will showcase sketches from the first five seasons of the longstanding series, including the premiere episode with Jim Nabors, who became Burnett's “good luck charm” and first appearances of iconic characters, like pitiful Eunice and air-headed Mrs. Wiggins, who fans continue to adore. Many of these milestone episodes have never aired beyond their original debut – until now on MeTV.

History comes alive at Woodlawn Cemetery, Mausoleum & Mortuary in Santa Monica during their Living History Tour in which costumed actors portraying noted personalities interred there share their stories and contributions to history and society. And although I had heard about the tours in previous years, last weekend was the first time I actually spent two hours on a wonderfully brilliant Saturday afternoon walking among the many souls who chose this peaceful spot as their final resting place. This year's tour featured 14 notable characters more than willing to share their life stories, often adding in many details not widely known about them.

Ah, the restoration comedy. Those bawdy little comedies from the 1600's and 1700's with ill-mannered aristocrats being put through their paces. Now let's take one of those, spice it up with a bit of modern flair, pepper in some of the funniest damn people in town, and a hilariously ridiculous three person band with some original songs and what you'll have is the joyous, bound to go off the rails at any minute, high-speed train ride that is Seattle Shakespeare Company's current production of "She Stoops to Conquer".

The World Premiere comedy SPECIAL commemorates the 40th Anniversary of the worst variety show in television history with a behind-the-scenes imagined look of how The Star Wars Holiday Special came to be. And from the outrageous imagination of playwright Andrew Osborne and a hard-working multi-role cast directed by Kerr Seth Lordygan (who also appears as a Special Guest Star in the production), laughs abound from start to finish as we witness how the ridiculous nature of the script, backstage politics and out-of-control spending doomed it to go down in history as being the most horrible Holiday Special that nobody talks about, notorious known for its extremely negative reception by Star Wars fans, the general public, and critics.
