The Billie Holiday Theatre and RestorationART present The New York Premiere Of A SMALL OAK TREE RUNS RED

To commemorate the 1918 holocaust lynchings of eleven African Americans, including Mary Turner and her unborn baby in Brooks County, Georgia, The Billie Holiday Theatre and RestorationART present the New York Premiere of A Small Oak Tree Runs Red by Brooklyn's own LeKethia Dalcoe, directed by renowned actor and director, Harry Lennix. Performances will begin February 2, 2018 with the Opening on February 8 and running through March 4 at The Billie Holiday Theatre, 1368 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY 11216.

Harry Lennix to Receive Northlight's Speak Up Award

Northlight Theatre will honor actor Harry Lennix with the 2017 Speak Up! Award at the Theatre's premier fundraising event, Staging the Future Together, on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 6:00pm, at The Evanston Golf Club, 4401 Dempster, Skokie, IL. The Speak Up! Award recognizes individuals who speak up about important issues impacting our society. Recipients must also have a connection to Northlight Theatre and should exemplify leadership, advocacy, and a deep commitment to community.

The Billie Holiday Theatre - home to the largest African American community in the nation - announces the inaugural season in its newly-renovated theater with award-winning works from the African American theater canon.

Victoria Platt Joins Cast of BUILDING THE WALL at Fountain Theatre

Beginning June 24, actress Victoria Platt will play the role of Gloria, joining actor Bo Foxworth in the Fountain Theatre's smash hit production of Building the Wall by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan. Building the Wall opened at the Fountain in March, where it was the first in a series of productions taking place across the U.S. as part of a National New Plays Network Rolling World Premiere. The Fountain recently announced an extension through Aug. 27.

Piven Theatre Workshop Gala to Honor Legendary Founder Joyce Piven

Piven Theatre Workshop's celebrity alumni are coming home to Chicago for one big night to honor their favorite teacher-legendary founder, Joyce Piven. On Saturday, May 6, philanthropic leaders, community partners and friends of Piven Theatre Workshop from Hollywood, Broadway and around the world will pay tribute to Piven's remarkable 45 years in Chicago theatre at the inaugural Once Upon a Stage gala at Revel Fulton Market in Chicago's West Loop. Notable guests include Jeremy Piven, who will accompany his mother to the gala, Shira Piven, Adam McKay, Ed Asner, Paul Adelstein, Lili Taylor, Aidan Quinn and Chicago's own Billy Dec, Harry Lennix, James Vincent Meredith and Lucas Jade Zumann, among others.

The long-awaited Broadway debut of August Wilson's Jitney, directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson (The Piano Lesson, Seven Guitars, Gem of the Ocean), opened just last night at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street). This production completes August Wilson's ten-play The American Century Cycle on Broadway.

Emerson Theatre Collaborative Presents HOUR FARTHER This Weekend

Emerson Theatre Collaborative (ETC), in association with Black Stars of the Great White Way - a Chapman Roberts and Richard Allen Center for Art & Culture, announces its production of the play, Hour Farther written by David Horace Greer, directed by Camilla Ross, and starring renowned stage and screen actor and singer, Kirk Taylor. Most recently, Mr. Taylor had the honor of working alongside the late Robin Williams and Mila Kunis in the film, The Angriest Man In Brooklyn directed by Phillip Alden Robinson.
