ATCA Selects 2019 New Play Award Finalists

The American Theatre Critics Association (ATCA) has selected six finalists for the Harold and Mimi Steinberg / American Theatre Critics Association 2019 New Play Award, recognizing playwrights for the best scripts that premiered professionally outside New York City during 2018.

New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Will Open Hal Prince Exhibit This Fall!

The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center announced today plans for a major exhibition examining the work of Hal Prince opening in the fall of 2019. The as-yet-untitled exhibition will document Prince's illustrious career from his early days serving as stage manager and understudy in Wonderful Town to his most recent collaborations using documents, objects, and recordings from the Library's unparalleled collections.

Roundabout Announces 2019 Underground Reading Series Lineup

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director/CEO) is thrilled to announce the eighth annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series, a five-night event that includes nightly readings of new works written and directed by emerging artists, as well as post-show receptions. The Reading Series will feature new works by Aaron Carter, Emily Feldman, Dave Harris, Jonathan Spector and Sanaz Toossi.

Chelsea Marcantel's AIRNESS Receives 2018 M. Elizabeth Osborn New Play Award

The American Theatre Critics Association (ATCA) has named Airness by Chelsea Marcantel the winner of the 2018 M. Elizabeth Osborn New Play Award. The award, which recognizes an emerging playwright, will be presented at the Humana Festival of New American Plays in Louisville on April 7. Airness, which premiered at Humana, concerns a woman entering her first air guitar competition. There she discovers there's an art form at the center of what may seem on the surface like just people pretending to play instruments.

Roundabout Underground's BOBBIE CLEARLY Opens Tomorrow

Roundabout Theatre Company presents the New York premiere of Bobbie Clearly by Alex Lubischer, directed by Will Davis. This is the second play in Roundabout Underground's expanded two-play season, following Too Heavy for Your Pocket by Jireh Breon Holder this fall.

Breaking: Stockard Channing Will Reprise Role in APOLOGIA in Roundabout's Fall Season

New York City staple Roundabout Theatre Company has just announced that Tony & Emmy Award winner Stockard Channing will return to the New York stage in the Off-Broadway premiere of APOLOGIA, by Alexi Kaye Campbell (The Pride). APOLOGIA will be directed by three-time Obie Award winner Daniel Aukin (Bad Jews, Skintight). Channing returns to the role of "Kristin" in Apologia following an acclaimed run in London's West End in 2017.

Roundabout's THE LAST MATCH Sets Up Final Serve Off-Broadway

Roundabout Theatre Company will conclude its New York premiere of The Last Match by Anna Ziegler's, directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch on Saturday, December 23. At the time of closing, The Last Match will have played 29 preview performances and 68 regular performances.
