Last night was a momentous occasion at the Museum of Jewish Heritage. The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's Yiddish language production of Fiddler on the Roof, which recently extended its run through December 30 to meet the high demand for tickets, celebrated its 100th sold out performance. Producers Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group announced today principal cast changes for the longest-running show in Broadway history, Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, directed by Harold Prince. One of the most successful stage productions of all-time, the New York production is celebrating a milestone 30 Years - an unprecedented feat achieved by no other Broadway show. The New York production has played over 12,500 performances to more than 18.5 million people at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street).

dick clark productions announced today several spectacular additions to the list of honorees at the 22nd Annual “Hollywood Film Awards.” Glenn Close will receive the “Hollywood Actress Award” for her stunning performance in Sony Pictures Classic's The Wife, while Hugh Jackman will be recognized for his powerful turn in Sony Pictures' The Front Runner. Damien Chazelle will receive the “Hollywood Director Award” for his work on Universal Pictures' First Man.

The 104-year old National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's (NYTF) critically-acclaimed Yiddish language production of Fiddler on the Roof, playing at the Museum of Jewish Heritage (MJH), is extending its run through December 30 to meet the high demand for tickets. The unprecedented success of the Yiddish language Fiddler on the Roof has inspired the production, presented with English and Russian supertitles, to be extended four times since its July 4th debut due to sold-out audiences. This is the final extension.

This year, a living legend of musical theatre turns 90: Lyricist-bookwriter Tom Jones (who also, under a stage name) appeared in the original company of his most famous and wildly successful record-breaking musical, The Fantasticks. His collaborator, composer Harvey Schmidt, just recently passed away. The production's record-breaking run closed, on January 13, 2002, after 17,162 performances. Their shows also include 110 in the Shade, I Do! I Do!, Philemon, Celebration and many more. And celebration is what it's about when Broadway veterans Carole Demas, who originated the role of Sandy in Grease, and Sarah Rice, who originated the role of Johanna in Sweeney Todd, return to celebrate Jones & Schmidt. Demas and Rice have based the show on their 50 years of work and personal relationships with Tom and Harvey. With very special guest Broadway's Hal Robinson who is also a Fantasticks alumni.
