Tickets Are on Sale Now for Trap Door Theatre's DECOMPOSED THEATRE

This winter, Trap Door Theatre will collaborate with eight directors to create a series of episodes adapted from Matei Visniec's Decomposed Theatre Or The Human Trashcan. From Dec. 3, 2020, to Feb.4, 2021, a unique adaptation from Visniec's 'dialogic spectacle of monologues' will be performed live on Zoom between the resident Chicago ensemble and an international group of guest performers and directors.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) is now in rehearsals with the world premiere of I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter based on the New York Times Bestseller and National Book Award Finalist by Erika L. Sánchez, adapted by Isaac Gómez, directed by ensemble member Sandra Marquez and featuring ensemble member Karen Rodriguez (Julia). Firmly rooted in Chicago, this poignant and vibrant new work is a love story to young Chicanas who, in trying to find the truth about the people and the world around them, end up finding themselves.

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble Announces 2020 Season

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble announces its 2020 Season including the World Premieres of The Tasters by Meghan Brown, directed by RTE member Devon de Mayo and Spay by Madison Fiedler and directed by RTE member Hallie Gordon, as well as 45 Plays for America's First Ladies by Chloe Johnston, Sharon Greene, Genevra Gallo-Bayiates, Bilal Dardai, and Andy Bayiates, in a co-production with Chicago's The Neo-Futurists. All productions will be performed at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N. Ridge Avenue in Chicago.

Rehearsals are underway for Lindiwe, Steppenwolf's highly anticipated world premiere production written by ensemble member Eric Simonson and featuring music written and performed by the five-time GRAMMY winning group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Directed by ensemble member Eric Simonson and Jonathan Berry, the life-affirming love story travels from Chicago's Kingston Mines to South Africa and beyond.

 Steppenwolf Theatre Company gathered with 300 leaders from Chicago's business and civic communities for the 10thAnniversary Steppenwolf Women in the Arts fundraising luncheon to honor OBIE, Helen Hayes and NAACP Award-winning actor and playwright Danai Gurira on December 10, 2018 at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, 221 N Columbus Dr. Ms. Gurira was also recently appointed a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, focusing on gender equality and women's rights. Author of the hit play, Familiar, which is currently running through January 13, 2019 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre, Ms. Gurira was joined by Steppenwolf Artistic Director Anna D. Shapiro and Steppenwolf Education Manager Jared Bellot for a warm and candid conversation about her impressive acting career on-screen and on-stage, her award-winning plays and her impact as an activist and philanthropist.

Steppenwolf Associates Raise $23,000 At Unlocked Event

The Steppenwolf Associates, a group of highly motivated and passionate young professionals, kicked off the fall season hosting a theatrical evening, "Unlocked: From the Page to The Stage," on Saturday, October 27, 2018. The sold-out event sponsored by Ice Miller and Winston & Strawn LLP, was attended by 120 young professionals and raised more than $23,000 for Steppenwolf Education. Guests attending the event enjoyed food and beverages donated by Adobo Grill, BLVD, Candid Wines, CH Distillery, Hopewell Brewing Company and Vinci. To end the evening, guests attended a performance of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time followed by an after party at Front Bar.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) announced full casting for its upcoming production of We Are Proud to Present a Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as South West Africa, From the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884-1915 by Jackie Sibblies Drury, co-directed by Hallie Gordon and Gabrielle Randle. It's the second of SYA's 2018-19 two-play season which asks, "When You Feel Lost, How Do You Find Your Way?" The cast features Will Alan (Actor 3/Another White Man), Taylor Blim (Actor 5/Sarah), Jeffrey Owen Freelon Jr. (Actor 2/Black Man), Michael Holding (Actor 1/White Man), Daniel Kyri (Actor 3/Another Black Man) and Jennifer Latimore (Actor 6/Black Woman).
