Giancarlo Guerrero Brings The NFM Wrocław Philharmonic Across The US In 2020

This winter, the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic embarks on a twelve-city US tour with conductor Giancarlo Guerrero, Music Director of the Polish orchestra since 2017. This tour is the first time the orchestra has toured the United States since 2012. Throughout the tour, the orchestra will perform works of Polish composers from across generations, including Frederic Chopin, Karol Szymanowski and Witold Lutosławski, an original patron of the National Forum of Music (NFM) in Wrocław. Johannes Brahms, a composer with close ties to Wrocław will also be represented on tour along with other Central European composers Antonin Dvořák and Béla Bartók.

Chicago Sinfonietta Presents Its Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute Concert

Leading the nation in programming works by women and diverse, under-represented composers, Chicago Sinfonietta, the nation's most diverse orchestra, presents its annual MLK Tribute Concert, celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through family, equity and the encouragement to execute positive change. Featuring several special guests, including Project Inclusion alumnus and current Chicago Sinfonietta Assistant Conductor Jonathan Rush, vocalist and semi-finalist on NBC's The Voice Kymberli Joye, and singers from three Chicagoland choruses, Chicago Sinfonietta is unveiling several firsts at the concert. Highlights will include Rush and Joye's professional collaborative debut during Patty Griffin's Up to the Mountain and the Chicago premiere of Joel Thompson's The Seven Last Words of the Unarmed, allowing listeners to experience a sweeping, musical journey meant to drive poignant conversation and change in society. Chicago Sinfonietta's performances will occur Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Wentz Concert Hall at North Central College, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville, and on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. at Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Ave in Chicago.

Newton's New Philharmonia Orchestra Anniversary Season Continues With 'From Gustav With Love'

Newton's New Philharmonia Orchestra, Francisco Noya, Music Director, kicks off its Classics Series as part of its Silver Anniversary Season, performing immortal works by Wolfgang Mozart and Gustav Mahler. Featuring Mozart's Flute Concerto No. 1 in G Major with special guest flutist Bruce Falby and Mahler's Symphony No. 5, the concert will be held at the First Baptist Church in Newton on Saturday, November 23rd at 7:30 and Sunday, November 24th at 3:00.

Munich Philharmonic And Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Both Return To Carnegie Hall In Fall 2019

Carnegie Hall welcomes back two orchestras from the culturally rich city of Munich, Germany: Munich Philharmonic and Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (BRSO) this fall. On Friday, October 25 at 8:00 p.m., Music Director Valery Gergiev leads the Munich Philharmonic in Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No 1. with Behzod Abduraimov and Bruckner's Symphony No. 7. The following evening, Saturday, October 26 at 8:00 p.m. they return with Leonidas Kavakos playing Brahms's Violin Concerto. Also on the program is Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 and Jörg Widmann's Con brio.

Numi Opera Presents DER RING DES POLYKRATES At Zipper Hall

Numi Opera completes its inaugural season with its second productiona?"Erich Korngold's first opera Der Ring Des Polykrates. which he composed in 1914. Directed by Numi Opera Executive Director Gail R. Gordon and conducted by Francesco Milioto, the rarely performed opera will have two performances on Thursday, December 19 at 7:30pm and Sunday, December 22 at 7:30pm at Zipper Hall at the Colburn School, located at 200 South Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles.

Jörg Widmann Kicks Off Carnegie Hall Residency With The Cleveland Orchestra, October 4

This fall, composer, conductor, and clarinetist Jörg Widmann begins his season-long residency as holder of the Richard and Barbara Debs Composer's Chair, which showcases his musical versatility and imaginative vision. The residency kicks off on Friday, October 4 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage with Franz Welser-Möst leading The Cleveland Orchestra, joined by pianist Yefim Bronfman as soloist, in a program that features Widmann's Trauermarsch.

Hungarian State Opera Orchestra Announces 2019/2020 Concert Season

The Hungarian State Opera Orchestra is the oldest theatre orchestra in Hungary. Due to the vast selection of performances offered by the Opera, it is the most employed Hungarian symphony orchestra. Its roots reach back as far as 1838, when Ferenc Erkel, the father of the Hungarian national opera as a genre organised an opera orchestra for the Hungarian Theatre of Pest. The orchestra moved into their present home, the Opera House after its inauguration in 1884 and was presided over by notable principal music directors including Gustav Mahler.

The groundbreaking conductorless Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra returns to Musco Center for the Arts on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 4 pm with Rimsky-Korsakov's beloved Scheherazade and excerpts from four operas by Mozart and Puccini.
