Fathom Events, National Theatre Live and BY Experience Present KING LEAR and ANTONY & CLEOPATRA in Movie Theaters This Fall

Tragedy never looked so good. Fathom Events, BY Experience and National Theatre Live announce two of William Shakespeare's famed tragedies for cinema screens this fall.  Captured live from the Duke of York's Theatre in London's West End and exhibited the same day in U.S. cinemas, Ian McKellen's highly-praised performance as the title character in the Chichester Festival Theatre's “King Lear” screens on Thursday, September 27 only at 7pm local time.  On December 6, director Simon Godwin returns to National Theatre Live with his production of “Antony & Cleopatra” from the Olivier Theatre, also at 7pm local time in cinemas.

Martha Wash To Star In The Chicago Premiere Of WAISTWATCHERS THE MUSICAL

The production that has had audience members "burning off pounds just laughing," according to the Los Angeles Times, WaistWatchers The Musical! makes its Chicago Premiere at the Royal George Theatre, 1641 N. Halsted St., this fall. Produced by Dana Matthow and featuring the queen of disco Martha Wash, known for singing the powerful anthem 'It's Raining Men,' and "Everybody Dance Now," the musical takes a lighthearted and hilarious look at women dealing with their relationship to food, friendship and fitness, while celebrating the transformative power of female friendship on the journey to self-acceptance. Capturing audiences of all ages from start to finish, the Chicago production begins September 13 for an open run with a press opening September 21, 2018.

Victorian Playwright Rediscovered For Finborough's 150th Birthday

As part of the Finborough Theatre building's 150th birthday celebrations, the first London productions since the 1860s of three comediettas - A Winning Hazard, Allow Me To Apologise and Orange Blossoms - by J. P. Wooler play at the Finborough Theatre for nine Sunday and Monday evenings and Tuesday matinees from Sunday, 9 September 2018 (Press Night: Monday, 10 September 2018 at 7.30pm).

The National Theatre Announces New Season of Talks and Events

To accompany the new season of productions, a programme of talks and events will begin with a series relating to Antony and Cleopatra. Director Simon Godwin will reflect on the production, and Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo will discuss the challenges and rewards of appearing in the production. Professor of Classics Edith Hall will give A Short History of the Roman Empire and author Lucy Hughes-Hallett will look at the many variations on Cleopatra's legend at Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt. Actor Tim McMullan will also reflect on playing Enobarbus. A more in-depth session focussing on the making of this production will be offered at Exploring Antony & Cleopatra at the NT whilst Setting the Scene: Antony & Cleopatra will offer an introductory step-by-step guide to the story.

Alley Stage Is Set For Agatha Christie's THE MOUSETRAP

The Alley Theatre and Interim Artistic Director James Black announce the cast and crew of the ExxonMobil Summer Chills production, Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, offering a cool escape from the sizzling summer heat.
