Young singers from elementary school age through college and a bit beyond will entertain audiences twice per week beginning July 8 for five weeks. Theatre 20's much anticipated first production opened last night at The Panasonic Theatre in Toronto. Bloodless: The Trial of Burke and Hare, is something unique and rare: a new Canadian musical. Written by Joseph Aragon, the show was a hit at The Winnipeg Fringe where Theatre 20 Artistic Director Adam Brazier picked it up and decided to use it for Theatre 20's inaugural show. The Hudson Village Theatre has announced details of its second summer offering, Back in '59, written and directed by Canadian playwright, producer, director and actor Thom Currie, playing tonight, July 11 to July 22. Since its birth last year at the Showboat Theatre Festival in Colborne, ON, the high-octane musical has been a sell-out success and now Montrealers can shake, shimmy and roll to chart toppers from the early sixties.
Media Theatre's "Delco Idol" contest begins tonight, July 11 at 7pm, with the "Junior" competition starting up Sunday July 15 at 7pm. Each continues for a total of five weeks. Five or more contestants are eliminated each week until the finals, when 20 singers will try for the 2012 title in each contest. Iron Workers Bank is the sponsor for the third summer.
