This is a high energy show with an almost improv feel with lots of physical comedy. Many cast members were tasked with playing multiple parts, and I was impressed as always with their talent at creating a completely different character with a separate set of mannerisms, voices, and running gags. Some switches were even mid scene! Zachary Thompson had many laughs with his over the top performance as the evil Magistrate embodying multiple judges for the trial. The Bloodkravens, played by Michaela Wagner and Mark Tauzin, were a fun twist as an actual witch and wizard trying to avoid being accused.
TAFE: Theatre Arts for Everyone is presenting a Robin Hood on stage from June 27th to 29th. Robin Hood is an original adaptation written and directed by Diane Crews. TAFE brings the Sherwood Forest to life with the familiar Robin Hood characters robbing the rich to help the poor. This legendary English Folklore has been around since the 13th or 14th century AD.
Daryll Perkins Jr.’s portrayal of Richard was excellent and perfectly evil for this tragic character. Chris Koslosky’s curses and predictions of downfall as the banished Queen Margaret was fantastic. The fighting scene between Richard (Daryl Perkins Jr.) and Henry Tudor of Richmond was realistic and tense. I’m pretty sure I held my breath for most of it. It was well choreographed, and both actors gave it their all and never missed a mark.
TAFE is proud to present the premier production of “The Influencer’s New Clothes” from August 23rd to 25th. This original play was written by York native, Paige Hoke. Jess Haag was excellent as the rental shop owner. She brought energy and optimism to the role coordinating the perfect Christmas for her customer. She worked well in contrast to bring out the hopefulness and love in Kevin Alvarnaz’s, John Dale. The five children stole the show getting laughs for being adorable and enthusiastic for Christmas.
