THE ART OF THE BENSHI 2024: WORLD TOUR - Japan's silent film narrators take center stage in a month-long tour across major cities including New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. Presented by the Yanai Initiative for Globalizing Japanese Humanities.

The emotional power of photography – and the ability of an image to evoke memories – will be illustrated in an exhibition of new photographic work by Japanese artist Yamamoto Masao.

Written and performed by Vanessa Severo, and directed by Joanie Schultz, Frida ... A Self Portrait begins preview performances on the Wilson Stage October 17, opens October 21, and runs through November 12.

Fatima NeJame, president and chief executive officer of the world-renowned Palm Beach Photographic Centre (PBPC), has announced its next major exhibition that will kick off the nonprofit organization’s 35th anniversary.

Arts and cultural venues across Monroe County will host nearly 500 performances of theater, dance, vocal and instrumental music, fine art, comedy, film, and more at the 2023 Rochester Fringe Festival from Tuesday, September 12 to Saturday, September 23. 

Phoenix Art Museum (PhxArt) and the University of Arizona Center for Creative Photography (CCP) have announced Emilia Mickevicius, PhD, as the newly appointed Norton Family Assistant Curator of Photography. Mickevicius will divide her time between the two institutions, working with CCP's world-renowned collections to curate exhibitions that will be presented in Phoenix Art Museum's Doris and John Norton Gallery for the Center for Creative Photography. She comes to PhxArt and CCP from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), where she has served as curatorial assistant in the photography department since 2019. Mickevicius begins her role on June 5, 2023.

Overture's Duck Soup Cinema silent film series, nationally known for providing an authentic silent film experience in the historic Capitol Theater, wraps up its 2022/23 season with “Ten Nights in a Bar Room” on Saturday, June 3.

Organizers of the Rochester Fringe Festival announced that the eleventh annual festival will include more than 500 performances and events – ranging from comedy, dance, kids' fringe, and multidisciplinary shows, to music, spoken word, theatre, and visual art & film – from Tuesday, September 13 – Saturday, September 24, 2022.

The Fringe is a twelve-day entertainment extravaganza designed to build community engagement through the performing arts.

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) kicks off May with The Blue Danube on Thursday May 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 7 at 8 p.m. in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre.
