Sydney Theatre Company Presents THE TORRENTS

After rave reviews at Black Swan Theatre Company in Perth, Oriel Gray's forgotten Australian classic The Torrents will move to the Drama Theatre at the Sydney Opera House for the Sydney Theatre Company this July.

Shereen Ahmed and Laird Mackintosh Will Lead MY FAIR LADY National Tour

Nederlander Presentations, Inc., has just announced that Shereen Ahmed will be Eliza Doolittle and Laird Mackintosh will be Henry Higgins in the upcoming North American tour of Lincoln Center Theater's critically-acclaimed production of Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY. Directed by Bartlett Sher, the tour will tech and launch in Syracuse, NY before officially opening at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Official Press Opening is Thursday, December 19.

BWW Interview: Playwright Mark Saltzman's A Runyonesque Accomplice In ANOTHER ROLL OF THE DICE

Emmy-winning writer Mark Saltzman will be back on the theatrical boards with the world premiere of his ANOTHER ROLL OF THE DICE, beginning July 10, 2019 at the North Coast Rep Theatre. Mark has based ANOTHER ROLL OF THE DICE, his companion piece to GUYS AND DOLLS, on the short stories of Damon Runyon and the time-tested songs of Frank Loesser. Lady Lucky gave me the chance to pick Mark's prolific brain on his long road to Runyonland, as well as, on a significant Sesame Street event.

BWW Review: GETTING MARRIED at SHAW FESTIVAL

To say that George Bernard Shaw's social commentaries were erudite would be an understatement. His keen eye and astute observations always allow the reader or viewer to take pause and contemplate life in a different light. The Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the Lake is producing one of his lesser works, GETTING MARRIED. Originally written for the stage in 1908, many of it's concepts remain unchanged regarding the institution of marriage and it's sanctity, but Shaw ingeniously takes us for a roller coaster of a ride in telling this story.

MY FAIR LADY Tour to Stop Off in Chicago March 2020

Broadway In Chicago announces that the North American tour of Lincoln Center Theater's critically-acclaimed production of Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY, directed by Bartlett Sher, will play Broadway In Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W. Randolph) from March 24 - April 12, 2020.

Sonoma Arts Live's A TOAST TO THE CLASSICS season closes with MY FAIR LADY, directed by award-winning Michael Ross, on the Rotary Stage in Andrews Hall in the historic Sonoma Community Center, 276 East Napa Street, Sonoma. Show runs July 12, 13,14,18,19,20,21,25,26,27,28. Evening performances at 7:30pm and Sunday performances at 2:00pm. July 12, Opening night will begin at 8pm, with a reception from 7pm - 8pm.

The Belmont Theatre's MY FAIR LADY Opens, June 14

The Belmont Theatre will present Lerner & Loewe's My Fair Lady on the main stage June 14-16 & 20-23. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday shows are at 3:00 p.m. Eliza Doolittle is a young flower seller with an unmistakable Cockney accent which keeps her in the lower rungs of Edwardian society. When Professor Henry Higgins tries to teach her how to speak like a proper lady, an unlikely friendship begins to flourish.

CSC Announces Kate Hamill And Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm Adapting Gothic Horror Works

Classic Stage Company continues its recently established repertory series which provides a platform, and freedom in the creative process, to today's most exciting emerging theater artists with two new adaptations of canonical gothic horror works based on novels by Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley. CSC has commissioned 2017 Wall Street Journal Playwright of the Year and one of the US' 10 Most Produced Playwrights of the 2018-2019 season, Kate Hamill, to take on Dracula, while Smith Prize for Political Theater and Helen Hayes Award-winning playwright Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm will create a new version of Frankenstein.Popularly known as a pair of macabre fantasies about blood-sucking vampires and man-made monsters, Dracula and Frankenstein illuminate and exorcise some of humanity's most fundamental fears surrounding life, love, and death. The productions will be performed in repertory January-March 2020.
