Cleveland Orchestra Gala Raises Record $2 Million

The Cleveland Orchestra raised $2 million for its education programs and community engagement initiatives during its annual Gala, The Celebration, on Saturday, October 1 at its home, Severance Music Center. The evening also capped the first week of the beginning of the Orchestra's 105th season of concerts, which runs from September to May.

Based on the true story of the murder-suicide scandal that plagued the Austro-Hungarian empire, Mayerling follows the events leading to the violent deaths of Crown Prince Rudolf and his mistress Baroness Mary Vetsera.

Beth Levin Headlines Meridian Performances Season

Meridian Performances launches its new season on October 27 at 8 pm in Merkin Hall with a concert by Beth Levin, a pianist whose artistic fearlessness is matched by her technical excellence. Rockefeller Center presents artist Sarah Meyohas's Dawn Chorus and Speculations at Top of the Rock Observation Deck. Top of the Rock ticket holders will have access to two presentations by Meyohas, both on display beginning July 15 through September 12. 

Piano Prodigy Kevin Chen Will Perform With The Calgary Philharmonic in June

June 2022 with the Calgary Philharmonic is a celebration of youth and of the spirit of collaboration, beginning with Kevin Chen in Concert (June 3 & 4). The 17-year-old Calgary pianist – a MacLachlan/Ridge Emerging Artist – is the youngest musician ever to win the prestigious Franz Liszt International Piano Competition.

2022 Honens International Piano Competition Semifinalists Announced

Ten pianists have been chosen to advance to the Semifinals of Canada's Honens International Piano Competition. The pianists (aged 21 to 31) come from seven countries: Austria, Hungary, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Ukraine, and the United States.

Hungarian State Folk Ensemble Presents LISZT MOSAICS

Art Director of Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, violinist István “Szalonna” Pál, will lead some of the traditional folk music, including the piece that was the origin of Bartók's Duos for Two Violins, and will be joined by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra conducted by Oleg Caetani, and renowned Canadian violinist Alexandre Da Costa in Bartók pieces that have drawn influence from traditional Hungarian music.

Multi-talented pianist, improviser and composer Stewart Goodyear returns to Chamber Music Detroit with concerts at Christ Church Grosse Pointe on Friday, May 6 at 8 PM, and at the Flagstar Strand Theatre in Pontiac on Saturday, May 7 at 8 PM.  His wide-ranging program includes works by Jennifer Higdon, Anthony Davis, Claude Debussy, Franz Liszt, plus the Midwest premiere of “Phoenix,” a new work by Goodyear himself.
