Today, Dance Consortium, a group of 17 large scale venues located across the UK, announces full details of its 40th tour, Danza Contemporánea de Cuba's UK Tour 2017. Last seen in the UK in 2012, Cuba's vibrant flagship contemporary dance company will present an exciting programme choreographed by some of today's most sought-after choreographic names. The 2017 UK tour opens at Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham on 14 February and concludes at Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury on 18 March.
A record number of 97 dancers from over 14 countries are set to compete in The Royal Academy of Dance's (RAD) prestigious Genée International Ballet Competition when it returns to Sydney from 7-11 December 2016. The National Youth Ballet of Great Britain is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Artistic Director, Mikah Smillie. Following the passing of the company's Founding Director Jill Tookey in March this year, Mikah was appointed Artistic Director in Residence and led the 2016 Season including a sell-out Memorial Gala performance at Sadler's Wells in September. Mikah now joins National Youth Ballet on a permanent basis and will lead the company into its 30th Anniversary Year in 2017.
