As Douglas Carter Beane's new comedy is now in rehearsals! The world premiere of Fairycakes is set for this fall at the Greenwich House Theater (27 Barrow Street), home to many of Beane's first plays, beginning Thursday, October 14, 2021. Opening night is set for October 24th.Fairycakes is set to play a limited engagement through January 2, 2022.

It was announced last week that Beanie Feldstein will lead the first Broadway revival of FUNNY GIRL this spring. Lea Michele, who was previously tapped for a Ryan Murphy produced revival of the show that never materialized and brought many of the show's iconic songs to the mainstream for a new generation of fans on GLEE, has commented on the casting.

No information has been released on who has been cast in these roles, but there were previously rumors that Lady Gaga would take on the iconic role of Fanny. More recent rumors on the internet pointed to the possibility of Idina Menzel leading the production, but those rumors were also never confirmed. Last year, Rosie O'Donnell revealed that she would be playing Mrs. Brice, but this does not appear to be true, as the production is looking to cast that role.
