'Clue' meets Chinatown in a live-streamed, interactive murder mystery experience inspired by historical events. Set in 1960 in East L.A.'s Hollenbeck Park — newly divided by the Los Angeles Freeway Interchange that famously displaced over 15,000 residents in Boyle Heights — Underneath the Freeways of Los Angeles.

La MaMa has announced programming for January 2021. This month will feature In Process with Bobbi Jene Smith, a look at the artistic progress of Bobbi Jene Smith and the team behind her next work, Broken Theater.

The Assembly presents two new works developed by the resident artists of the Deceleration Lab, an initiative to foster new theatrical projects that use and experiment with multi-perspective and multi-disciplinary models of creation.

The month will feature Cairo KitKat Club by HaRaKa Platform (Adham Hafez, Mona Gamil, Lamia Gouda, Adam Kucharski), co-presented with Goethe-Institut and in partnership with artists and specialists from New York, Berlin, Cairo, and London, on December 11-14; Christmas in Virtual NickyLand 2020 by Nicky Paraiso on December 15, and more.

Cairo KitKat Club is an experimental digital performance and installation work by the HaRaKa Platform (Adham Hafez, Mona Gamil, Lamia Gouda, Adam Kucharski), in partnership with artists and specialists from New York, Berlin, Cairo, and London.

American Blues Theater will present the live, online reading of Red Bike, written by Caridad Svich, directed by Lavina Jadhwani, and starring August Forman, as part of “The Room” series. The reading will be live on Wednesday, December 9 at 7pm Central. The 75-minute reading will be followed by a group discussion.

Company of Fools (CoF) will present a rehearsed reading of 'The Thanksgiving Play' by Larissa FastHorse. So that the community can participate in-person or virtually, CoF will offer two in-person readings at the historic Liberty Theatre on Friday, Nov. 20, and Saturday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. along with simultaneous livestreams.

The nonprofit Sundance Institute today announced the newly appointed and recent additions to the Institute’s Board of Trustees. 

La MaMa has announced that THE LA MAMA LOVE GLOBAL GALA will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 11am EST. The 2020 La MaMa Love Global Gala brings artists together from around the world to celebrate the spirit and community that have fueled La MaMa's work for the past 58 years.

Repertorio Español has announced the winners of The 2020 Miranda Family Voces Latinx Playwriting Competition, an initiative to develop and promote Latinx plays that resonate with and accurately depict the Latinx experience.

SITI Company has announced the SITI Legacy Plan, which includes a finale 30th anniversary season and the creation of a robust physical and digital archive. At the conclusion of the finale season, anticipated to be the Fall of 2022, SITI Company will cease to operate in its current iteration as a touring, teaching, performing ensemble.

Yoshiko Chuma returns to La MaMa with Love Story, The School of Hard Knocks, the latest chapter in her ongoing multidisciplinary performance series. The 24-hour livestreamed performance will feature an international cast of more than 50 artists from four decades of collaboration.

La MaMa will kick off its 59th season with a special presentation of Downtown Variety and a Virtual Season Launch Party on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 8pm EDT.

The International Committee of The League of Professional Theatre Women, an organization which has been championing women in the professional theatre for over three decades, announced today that they will postpone the previously announced virtual presentation of the 2020 Gilder/Coigney International Theatre Award to the week of February 14, 2021.
