Chesterwood will present a staged reading of "The Lincoln Family Album", written and moderated by noted Lincoln scholar Harold Holzer, on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. in Daniel Chester French's Studio. The presentation is the third program Holzer has written and narrated for Chesterwood and follows the success of previous sold-out performances of Holzer's "Lincoln Speaks."

The american vicarious will present the world premiere of Jonathan Leaf's Pushkin. This limited Off-Broadway engagement will begin performances on July 25th and continue through August 25th only, at at The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street). Opening Night is scheduled for August 5th. The performance runs 90 minutes with no intermission.

On Tuesday, June 5th, the United Palace of Cultural Arts will host 'Rhapsody in Black,' the autobiographical one-man play written and performed by LeLand Gantt (best known for his roles in the Oscar-nominated Requiem for a Dream, Law and Order, and more). Developed at NYC's Actors Studio with Academy Award-winning actress Estelle Parsons as Directorial Consultant, 'Rhapsody in Black' is a searing portrait of Gantt's personal journey to understand and eventually transcend racism in America - following him from his underprivileged childhood in the ghettos of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to teenage experiments with drugs, to his eventual rise in acting and a bittersweet success that often finds him as the only African-American in the room.

The Actors Studio Drama School 2018 Repertory Season closed its seven-week series of exciting and challenging theater productions with Boeing Boeing by Marc Camoletti, translated by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans. The season features the work of the graduating MFA Acting, Directing, and Playwriting students who collaborate on professionally produced productions presented at 3LD Art & Technology Center.

On Monday, May 7th The League of Professional Theatre Women (Kelli Lynn Harrison & Lisa Rothe, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been leading the gender parity conversation and championing women in the professional theatre for over 35 years, presented the final Oral History event of their 2017-18 season with two-time Tony Award winner Chita Rivera in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (111 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street). Ms. Rivera talked about her life and illustrious career with Broadway World's lead correspondent, Richard Ridge, host of Backstage with Richard Ridge.

Following an extensive nationwide search,American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Board of Trustees and Executive Director Peter Pastreich today named Tony, OBIE, and Drama Desk Award winner Pam MacKinnon the new artistic director of San Francisco's premier nonprofit theater organization. MacKinnon succeeds Carey Perloff who will depart from American Conservatory Theater at the end of the 2017-18 season after 25 years at the helm. MacKinnon will begin planning the 2018-19 season alongside Perloff effective immediately. In addition, she will begin partnering with the leaders of A.C.T.'s world-class actor training programs and ever-expanding community programs, ensuring A.C.T. continues its role as the Bay Area's leading theater arts educational organization.
