Lourdes Lopez, Miami City Ballet's Artistic Director, has reported that the company's Miami Beach headquarters, its dancers, students and staff are safe and have experienced Hurricane Irma with minimal damage.

Miami City Ballet's school, box office, rehearsal studios and offices will reopen on Monday morning, September 18. The storm will not affect scheduled performances.

George Balanchine's Jewels will open the season on October 20 as scheduled, at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami. The season's costumes and sets were not damaged in the storm.

Tickets for all productions, including George Balanchine's The Nutcracker, have remained on sale on the company's website: www.miamicityballet.org.

The company's highly anticipated performance in New York City Center's Fall for Dance Festival has not been affected by the hurricane. The company will travel to New York City as scheduled, and will perform on Monday, October 2, and Tuesday, October 3.

Miami City Ballet is located at 2200 liberty Avenue, Miami Beach. The company's performing homes throughout South Florida - in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach - have weathered the storm with minimal damage.

"Miami City Ballet extends our deep gratitude and appreciation to The City of Miami Beach for their assistance and to the many other state and local officials for their concern and support," said MCB's Board Chairman, Kristi Jernigan.

Miami City Ballet, now in its 32nd season, has been led by Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez since 2012. Lopez was recently named one of "The Most Influential People in Dance Today" by Dance Magazine. MCB was founded in 1985 by Miami philanthropist Toby Lerner Ansin and Founding Artistic Director Edward Villella. The Company has 52 dancers and a repertoire of more than 100 ballets. MCB performs for nearly 100,000 patrons annually during its South Florida home season in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Naples, and tours to top theaters domestically and internationally.

Miami City Ballet School, the official school of Miami City Ballet, is one of the most respected ballet training academies in America. The School's renowned faculty, challenging syllabus and affiliation with Miami City Ballet make it a place where all students - from children to adults - can receive comprehensive dance training. The School trains approximately 400 students, ages 3-18, in its year- round program, and 400 during its summer programs, granting nearly $500,000 in scholarships annually. More than 500 adults participate in a vibrant community division.

Miami City Ballet School is located at 2200 Liberty Avenue, Miami.
