SoHo Playhouse Announces the Return of FRINGE ENCORE SERIES 2022

Darren Lee Cole, producing director of the not-for-profit, SoHo Playhouse has announced the homecoming of the International Fringe Encore Series. This year’s Series marks a return of the world’s best emerging theater to New York City and the SoHo Playhouse, with at least one production chosen from Fringe Festivals throughout North America.

With a new lobby and a new marquee, Theatre Three welcomes patrons “home” to the Norma Young Arena Stage with the great American play, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? by Edward Albee. The play is celebrating its 60th Anniversary this year, coinciding with Theatre Three's 60th Anniversary Season.

Burning Coal Theatre Company will present its production of What If If Only (US premiere) and Air (world premiere) by Caryl Churchill, directed by Ana Radulescu, June 9 - 26, 2022. This production, directed by Burning Coal’s Associate Artistic Director, will be performed at Burning Coal’s home, the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh, NC 27604.
A CASE FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD Extends Again at Signature Theatre

Signature Theatre has extended the world premiere of Samuel D. Hunter’s A Case for the Existence of God, directed by David Cromer (Tony Award-winner, The Band’s Visit) to May 29. The production, which opened on May 2, is running on The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 W 42nd St).

Sarah Paulson, Uzo Aduba, Anthony Mackie, Martin Freeman, Nick Robinson, and Hillary Baack will star in a new film adaption of Bruce Norris' Claybourne Park. Tony-nominee Pam MacKinnon is also set to direct the new film. The play premiered on Broadway in 2012, winning the Tony Award for Best Play.
Jeremy O. Harris Announced as Next Presiding Playwright for 2023 Yale Drama Series Prize

The 2023 Yale Drama Series Prize has chosen Jeremy O. Harris, the Yale alum and Tony-nominated author of Slave Play, as the presiding playwright for its landmark 15th anniversary year. As his first order of business, Harris is assembling an international group of readers to help evaluate submissions as part of a larger effort to infuse the process with a more global point-of-view.
