Dorothy Silver, the 'grande dame' of Cleveland theatre, noted for her talent, charm, grace and compassion, once said of herself, 'I've been letting myself grow old for years. I'm very confident in my age. Also, it helps me be competitive in getting many stage and film roles, since so many older actresses try to take years off their age.'

Silver was a winner of the Cleveland Arts Prize, and was involved with Karamu House for 21 years as an actor, assistant director, and then a resident guest director. She also served as the cultural arts director at the former Jewish Community Center on Mayfield Road in Cleveland Heights for 12 years.

Beck Center has a sterling reputation of cultivating talented performers who go on to success in hit Broadway shows and associated tours. Some of the theatre's alums will perform in a virtual engagement which runs March 5 to March 28, 2021, as part of Beck Center for the Arts' 87th Professional Theater Season.

It is with great shock and sadness that Cleveland Play House shared the news of the passing of Managing Director Kevin Moore. On Saturday, October 24th, Kevin tragically died possibly due to a pulmonary embolism or heart attack. He was 59 years old.

Hart NPI artistic director Christopher Hart will direct Silver Medallion-winning plays Confederates by Suzanne Bradbeer, opening Nov. 9, and Exit Wounds by Wendy Graf, opening Nov. 16, atGrove Theater Center in Burbank, where the two plays will continue to run in repertory through Dec. 16. One will be named the Gold Medallion winner and open on March 13, 2019 for a six-week, off-Broadway run in the 196-seat "Theater A" at 59E59 Theaters in New York City.

Annie Baker is the author of 'The Flick,' which had an award-winning production at Dobama last March (e.g., Cleveland Critics Circle and Broadwayworld.com recognitions). That script was clever, thought-provoking and generally mesmerizing.
