Barrington Stage Company has announced the first round of Spark Grants of $2,500 each to 11 artists with whom Barrington Stage Company has either collaborated with on past work or looks forward to collaborating with in the future. Recipients were awarded the grant under the single condition that the money be used to spark the artist’s creativity.

Newton Story” and as Smiley in Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing”! and LaChanze, AUDELCO award winner for “The Secret Life of Bees” and 2006 Tony award winner for “The Color Purple”.

A 2016 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study estimated if we do nothing about current rates of HIV transmission, one in two Black men who have sex with men will be diagnosed with HIV in his lifetime. That study was the launching point for 'one in two,' a play by Donja R. Love which will have a virtual reading on Saturday, June 27th.
