Bargemusic Presents Pianist Beth Levin Today

Bargemusic proudly presents an evening recital with Brooklyn-based virtuoso pianist Beth Levin today, July 13th at 8pm. Levin is celebrated as a bold interpreter of challenging works, from the Romantic canon to leading modernist composers. The New York Times praised her "fire and originality," while The New Yorker called her playing "revelatory."  Part of the treasured Masterworks Series, this program will feature Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 29 in B-flat Major, Op. 106, "Hammerklavier" and Handel's Suite for keyboard No. 3 in D minor, HWV 428.

The Music Center After Hours To Explore The Intersection Of Science And Art

Sleepless: The Music Center After Hours (Sleepless), an immersive multi-sensory event, invites Angelenos to explore the intersection of science and art and reimagine the role of the artist as the scientist.  Sleepless will transform The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in powerful new ways by connecting the two disciplines in a dynamic evening with exhibitions, performance art, live music performances, DJ sets and installations.  Presented in partnership with Fulcrum Arts, the event** includes:

Benjamin Eakeley Returns With BROADWAY SWINGER, VOLUME 2 At Feinstein's/54 Below

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW - Broadway's Supper Club - will present the return of BENJAMIN EAKELEY and his jazz band in an encore performance of his acclaimed solo concert "BROADWAY SWINGER, VOLUME 2" on Tuesday, August 14 at 7:00 PM. "BROADWAY SWINGER, VOLUME 2," which chronicles the birth of swing music in the 1930s and the rise of the big bands that lifted American spirits out of the Great Depression, features timeless standards by Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Jerome Kern and other greats who established the 1930s as the Golden Age of American Songwriting.

Film Composer Nan Schwartz to Release New Symphonic Music Album

The world premiere recording of original symphonic music by Grammy® Award-winning composer Nan Schwartz has been released on the Divine Art label (DDA 25165, March 16, 2018). Kevin Purcell conducts the 83-piece Bratislava Studio Symphony Orchestra (Slovakia) and Synchron Stage Orchestra (Vienna). The recording features four works by Ms. Schwartz: Aspirations, Perspectives, Romanza and Angels Among Us, with solo contributions from the Who's-who of New York's finest jazz musicians.

The 64th Ocean Grove Choir Festival, the largest sacred music choral event on the East Coast, will take place Sunday July 8th, 7PM at the historic 6,500 seat Great Auditorium under the baton of noted American conductor Jason Tramm. Tramm, who has been at the helm of this spectacular annual festival for over a decade, serves as conductor and steward of Ocean Grove's signature sacred music festival which has historically featured many of the finest choral and oratorio societies from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania - and as far ranging as Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois, Louisiana - together with renowned soloists, musicians, composers and guest conductors.
