Hello! has reported that Dick van Dyke and Julie Andrews, stars of the beloved 1964 film, Mary Poppins, may be in talks to join the cast of Disney's upcoming sequel, Mary Poppins Returns.

According to Variety, Oscar-winner Meryl Streep is in talks to join Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt in the upcoming MARY POPPINS RETURNS coming from Disney in 2018. According to the publication, 'Streep is said to play the role of Poppins' cousin, Topsy, a supporting role that wasn't in the 1964 classic. Streep would also sing for the part, much like she did in "Into the Woods," which earned her a record 19th Oscar nomination.'

The team wrote the Broadway hits BYE, BYE, BIRDIE and APPLAUSE and the classic song 'Once Upon a Time.'

Ryan Gibbs brings the Broadway version of the Disney classic to the Dutch Apple stage. Fly away into fantasy with everyone's favorite nanny, Mary Poppins.

Starring in North Carolina Theatre's upcoming production of Mary Poppins from July 26th-31st is Nicolas Dromard as Bert! A role originated on screen by Dick Van Dyke and on stage by Tony & Olivier nominee Gavin Lee.

As many of you might know, it is always a 'Jolly Holiday' with Mary. Poppins that is. This Practically Perfect Nanny first burst on the scene in 1934, in the children's books written by P.L. Travers. In 1964, the beloved Disney movie starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke was released. This is where most of us fell in love with Mary Poppins. Mary was once again transformed in 2004, when she was brought to life on stage in London's West End. While not especially faithful to the movie, the show morphs into a crafty Broadway musical. As with many Disney adaptations, new songs have been added, and you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference between the iconic Sherman Brothers tunes and those penned by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. They fit flawlessly, and the up-tempo 'Anything Can Happen' is as good as anything from the film.

Song and dance man Dick Van Dyke made an appearance at Chicago's 'Creativity Days' family festival this weekend.
